if my maths are right thts approx. 22.5m
you really think that Wenger would buy Coleman to replace him when we have Jenkinson at the club?
If Sagna can get that elsewhere then why wouldn't he ask for it. And if we lose him for free we will need to either downgrade in that position i.e. jenkinson or have to pay a substantial fee, plus wages and signing on fee anyway. It's a false economy to say he is not worth it. Of course there is a limit as to how much we should pay him but surely you look at the entire cost of the deal on both sides
sagna I think is 31 coleman 25 for similar money which is better long term, which I suppose wont really matter cos it would kill jenkinson and we cant have that
Agree with McD.
Sagna (whilst being very good defensively) is absolute pants going forward and in the modern game you need fullbacks that can defend and attack. If Sagna is actually asking anywhere near that ammount (and again as McD said there's no proof) then I'd also say let him go and spend the same money on Coleman who at 25 has another 5-8 years possibly in him at the top. Coleman is also far superior going forward. Jenko is a Gooner, we'd all love to see him succeed with The Arsenal, and he is good going forward (still the best crosser of a ball at the club) but no where near Sagna/Coleman's level defensively. Can Jenko develop/improve that part of his game? I don't know. But Coleman is proven quality. Add Baines in there and Gibbs can fuck off and all!
Of course Arsene will just refuse to pay, let Sagna leave and promote a currently ill-equipped Jenko.

Jenkinson will not replace Sagna. Just my view. There are usually a few signs that Wenger is readying a player and I just don't see it with Jenkinson. The fact that Sagna could cover centre half means we'd no doubt be looking in that position, too. If Vermaelen leaves then we'll have no choice anyway....unless Djourou is dragged back.

In an ideal world I am happy with us getting Coleman in long term but I’m not convinced we can get Coleman for a similar amount to that being asked by Sagna at the moment. He’s one of the highest rated full backs in the league this season so unless he is nearing the end of his contract £15m transfer fee seems like the absolute minimum Everton would accept for him, but they’d probably want closer to £20m as we are cash rich. The total cost of Sagna over three years (based on McD’s provisional number) is £22m.
Agree with you both though, Wenger won’t go for someone like Coleman, which is even more reason for us to give Sagna the contract he wants!

Don't laugh but I hear that le cock is preparing a £45,000,001 bid as we speak

If Baines was 59 we'd get about the same number of games a season out of him as we do with marshmallow legs Gibbs tbh...

Djourou''s move was made permanent. He's no longer a member of the Arsenal.
Everton will probably be asking £25m for Coleman and realistically it will take £15-20m to get him. Wenger won't spend that money on a full-back and instead we'll see a succession of inadequate 6-10m players like we have on the other flank.

Gibbs inadequate? He had some subpar performances in the run-in but his first half of 2/3 of the season was excellent.

I would say being injured half your life makes you fairly inadequate in a sense. But I was referring to Santos and Monreal, and I guess to a lesser extent Silvestre and Squillaci who were signed with the view of being able to cover there if needs be.
