Slow

Post by supergeorgegraham »

Ok its starts already. Liverpool and Chelsea are moving quickly to sign the best players before the World Cup starts. You can bet United will be as well. City have the financial fair play to contend with.
Wenger has already stated that no deals will be done until after the World Cup. Reason this is not in the transfer thread is because its only about our slow approach to the market.
United must finish in the top 4 next season. Liverpool are a side reborn. Chelsea will buy an awesome world class striker and City are the Champions.
My question is this, if just for once we moved quickly we could sign the best players but by playing the waiting game all the other teams who need to rebuild will get in there first. Why do we do this and what will happen next season ?

because the supporters by renewing season tickets allow this to happen.

there is no dissent towards Wenger and the board as regards their policies so why should they change?
Wenger has qualified for the top 4 every season - we will finish 4th next season too although it will be interesting who comes 5th.

We don't need many new players, just one or two low-key signings (and for us to suffer 0 injuries next season and for teams to stop employing these underhand 'tactics' things so that we can win all the time with fluid unicorn rainbow football).

taken from the Arsenal website

The Champions League final is on the 24th of May and basically two weeks later it is the start of the World Cup. It is unbelievable. There is no time between the end of the season and the start of the World Cup. Nobody will do anything before the World Cup starts."

and this is the fool that we are awarding a new contract to :banghead:

Would be a ridiculous enough statement if we were in the champions league.

As it is, it's just complete nonsense. A players value is only going to increase after a good world cup showing as well. If a poor world cup then selling club isn't going to lowere price based on performances for national team either. But then i don't have a degree in economics...
