Truly, it is a great day,even now. Good luck,enjoy your day and have a good summer,enjoyed the threads n replies on here as always. PS, The best thing about this season was Liverpool

It's the nervous fear isn't it? We know we should win but it's been so long since we last won something that we're all getting a bit edgy.nut flush gooner wrote:Just had two beers already, if I carry on not sure I will make it for tomorrow, still nervous. How can the media call gooners cocky/arrogant when we are collectively shitting ourselves !
I've a feeling if we do lose this place will be shut down permanently...SPUDMASHER wrote:Do you think everyone is going to calm down in a matter of 24 hours then![]()

I would leave it shut down until 2019 personally!![]()
I understand your points, but think that there is a genuine grass roots feeling that the victims of this tragedy have been forgotten by the wider football community and maybe informally acknowledging that close to the 29th anniversary will at least ensure that it is officially marked by the FA on the 30th. No one will force anyone to clap - and there will be many there who will be blissfully unaware what this was all about anyway - but I think that those that do are doing it for genuine reasons. It doesn't set a precedent. It doesn't need to be repeated every year, or for every other football tragedy. But I for one will happily take a minute out of "our day" to remember the 56...Bradywasking wrote:You can have opinions, we all do but when you read what you have written you realise there is a bigger picture. Dare I say this but has the 56 minute thing been borne out of Hillsborough fatigue..SaltaireBantam wrote:The 56 minute thing, don't bother, it's your day not ours. Do it and small vociferous bunch of social media grief junkies, who were not even born that day, will have won. That will be a sad day for football, before you know it, Bolton will want the same, Man U too, then Rangers, then the cup final will have to played until the 96th minute so L'poo don't feel left out. Fans friggin hands wills sore from all the clapping.![]()
It's split fan against fan oop here, just as it did at Wembley with some refusing to touch the 56 flag, and 56, a number is what those fans are now reduced to. These idiots are demanding respect, you can't do that, what you get won't be sincere, they don't want to commemorate anything, they want to celebrate, like they do. Turning seamlessly "We all hate Leeds SCUM" into "Always remember the 56" (Tom Hark) How friggin disrespectful can it all get?
You've made Steve O the happiest retard on the planet with that news.DB10GOONER wrote:Just a brief notification the owners have asked me to post;

I think this makes sense tbh.

Spot on, agree totally with this. Yes, the fire was a terrible & tragic event, but why should fans who have no connection to the tragedy (other than being football supporters) start recognising it on a more high profile scale now, 29 years later? To make ourselves feel better? To prove what caring, compassionate people we are? So we can all post emotional messages on social media to make ourselves feel better when people tell us how caring and compassionate we are? To stick two fingers up at Liverpool and the Hillsborough grief porn? I'd hope that people would consider me as a decent, compassionate person without being forced to partake in some public outpouring of grief because some guys in suits think it's the done thing.SaltaireBantam wrote:You have to ask "Why now"? Why not on the 10th anniversary or the 25th, significant dates, why 29 years later? Once you start...........It's because a small number of vociferous grief junkies are demanding "respect", in their pathetic tragedy competition, we can't compete with the big boys at football so this is their chance to grab the spotlight.Bradywasking wrote:You can have opinions, we all do but when you read what you have written you realise there is a bigger picture. Every year we have a dignified remembrance out the memorial, Cathedral and at our last home game. We need nothing else. Some away clubs do something, some don't, it's no big deal, this year a Crawley player laid a beautiful wreath before KO, it was well appreciated, it was not demanded, therefore sincere.........meaningful.
I do not think you will find one person who was there who wants a minutes silence at the FA Cup final. It's like collective hysteria has caught the UK regarding football tragedies at the mo. These twats have taken to standing on 56 minutes at our own ground Valley Parade (Why now?), what happens? They get told to STFU and sit down!
