A Challenge

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm liking this challenge!

- We just won a trophy.
- Everyone's happy
- First time I've experienced those scenes in Islington since I was a kid. Awesome stuff, *everyone* being happy, singing, dancing, honking.

Ahhhhhh! How can anyone not be happy at this moment?! It's fantastic! :D :D :D :D :D

I'm not one of those fans who can allow the cup win to block out all the negatives in our club (especially le cock) BUT I have to admit that today I am giddy, giddy, giddy :lol: I am loving the chance of showing my sons just how much it means for the club to win trophies and am loving showing them the reaction of the fans at the parade - I want my kids to realise that a club of our size should be challenging and winning ACTUAL trophies 8) :barscarf:

Augie, I was thinking earlier today - as much as I enjoyed the victory, I have seen us win stuff before, it was good for the young uns who have not seen us victorious before, who have not been swayed like many of their friends I'm sure, to glory hunt and be Chelsea, Man Utd or City fans.

To show them that Arsenal are a big team, a great team, a team that can and will be winners again.

They will have suffered, like all of us, the media hatred of our club, yet this weekend we can shove their taunts back down their throats - whatever will Adrian "Bull" Durham do for a show now I wonder ?

I said pretty much the same to my 17 year old daughter at the parade today,we stood in the exact same spot outside the Alwyne that we had in 2004 and I said to her how great it is to be a Gooner and no matter how much I want Wenger gone its still our club and we'll always love it,It was truly great to see so many happy faces today in N1,

Must have been great watching it with kids who aren't old enough to really remember 2005 and before. Although I agree that the FA Cup has been slightly devalued by a number of things, yesterday was just as special as the finals a decade ago. Sat next to a pretty old bloke who was talking to me about being at the 71 final, he was struggling to stand up in the second half and I think he was on the verge of a heart attack but he was kicking every ball and me and his son held him up at the end. At the other end of the scale there was a kid (must have been about 7 or 8) who was just in awe the whole game and loved it, it reminded me of going in 1998 when I was a similar age.

For every goal it was absolutely mental, must have grabbed about 10 fuckers each time. Bloke behind me was silent and seemed quite apathetic (was there with his missus) and was pretty shocked when we equalised and I shook him half to death before planting a smacker on his head. Would have done the same to his girlfriend but she was a bit of a munter.

That sort of behaviour would be viewed as crazy anywhere else but yesterday it was like all the Wenger divide and negativity was set aside and winning the game was all that mattered. I celebrated it as much as all our other triumphs - more in fact seeing as I was old enough to get wankered this time! For a few hours you have this deep bond with people you've never met before and will never meet again, can't really explain it but that is what the FA Cup is all about.
