The Yaya Sanogo lack of Progress Thread

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I have to admit to starting the "Yaya's gonna win it" when he came on just to soften the blow. :barscarf:

Needs regular competitive football an more experience.
Plays as I would expect from a player with so little experience, gets into positions and slows down, as if he does not know what to do.

Think he tweaked a knee tendon today.
Spot on Quartz,

Needs confidence, not a run in our first team. Im not going to write him off, and experience could turn him into a good impact style player, but shouldnt be in the reckoning for us for most of next season.

needs a proper medical team now as well for rehab

Limited as he may be at the moment, thought he had a major impact when he came on.

Oh and fuck the referees!

Arsenal are not good for your heart though!

No it wasn't a co-incidence, neither was it down to Sanogo having a decent game, it was due to having 2 players up top, which caused Hull problems as we had more options up front.

Quite simply it was the tactical change of formation (which we could have done by shifting Podolski alongside Giroud just as easily)

Funny that we struggled like hell with Wenkers tried and tested one up top, but like the semi v Wigan we created tons more once this was abandoned :rubchin: :rubchin:

I agree with Quaartz - the kid gets into good positions , makes well timed runs but his first touch is horrible.

A year in the championship would help him with the muscle memory and mental aspect of it.

At least he didn't get caught offside every other move like adebayor did when he first came.

The kid tries hard but needs coaching properly.

He would have scored if it wasnt for that blatant handball.

He's decent until he gets near the ball, and then he just doesn't look like any sort of footballer. If it's not bouncing off his shin he is failing to skin defenders. Yesterday I think in the first half of extra time he seemed to have skinned a defender to cut back inside but instead of driving on or getting a shot away tried to go back outside for some reason. When he intercepted that backpass he was one on one with Paul McShane, who is fucking awful. He didn't even try and skin him, just allowed him to shepherd him out wide then inevitably dragged his shot wide.

When he got the ball from the backpass it was so blatent that he hadn't a clue what to do - despite being clean through on goal :banghead:

He is another Wenker vanity project to show the world he doesn't buy players he makes them.

Thought he played well against Wigan...and again yesterday. He could end up being the best striker never to score for the club!

It looked as though Rambo wanted to tackle him at one point during the final, just to get the ball away from him...
I like Sanogo's effort, but he looks too far out of his depth. He's kind of like the new dorky kid at school who doesn't know where the toilets are, and the older boys have been instructed to take him under their wing...
A loan deal may be the making of him, but he shouldn't be anywhere near our first team next season.

He seems like a good lad though.
