Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
Interesting point made to me last night..........
We were only 2 games away from being champions this year. In other words, had we beaten City and the Mousers away we would have been top of the pile.
Whilst accepting that we got totally raped in both of those games, the season overall wasn't failure by a massive margin.
If the dozy twonk addresses our weakness in those type of games by bringing in players that have big game experience and don't drop their heads and start shitting themselves when they meet a decent team then we have a real chance.
I'm reserving judgement to see what players come in this window and if he actually addresses obvious issues in the January window (which he has continually failed to do in recent years). I hope he takes a bolder approach than recent years and has finally got it into his head that you need to have strength in depth to succeed in this league.
I think the critical difference this year compared to others is the media/pundits/former players/other professionals have been openly critical of his policies and beliefs. He's not had that public outcry from those in the know to contend with previously. That will put him under more pressure to get it right and I think will mean that Gazidis is maybe going to ask a few more questions.

You've had a boner ever since the VT was secured, temporarily suffered the old brewers droop, but fear not my friend because I've got you a special T Bone all of your own when the contract gets signed in the next week or tworodders999 wrote:Oh ye of little faith. oh i'm enjoying it - i will all summer, i'm just trying to press some realism into the AKB's.SteveO 35 wrote: Don't disagree with that, but not going to let it stand in the way of continuing to enjoy what was one of the best weekends ever. And I don't think anyone is kidding themselves (apart from anyone with a goldfish brain) - there is not a fucking chance in hell that he will sign 3 or 4 top quality players that will see us really push on.
unless Wonga changes his buying patterns and tactics, nothing has changed.
this is NOT the start of some great new era - again, read the background to the Van Gaal appointment - he's bringing one of the best Opposition Analysts in Europe with him... we don't even have one...Liverpool have a whole team.
This summer i'll be watching Everton very closely to see who Martinez buys - if they make some good buys and we don't ? we'll be 6th let alone 5th.
enjoy your summers lads....

Will do mate - and you. I'll put you down for a seat next to my old man at the Emirates Cup, by which he will have spent BIG !clockender1 wrote:oh i'm enjoying it - i will all summer, i'm just trying to press some realism into the AKB's.SteveO 35 wrote: Don't disagree with that, but not going to let it stand in the way of continuing to enjoy what was one of the best weekends ever. Re: WENGER - Views For and Against.
i've had the same glimmer of hope as Augie - that wonga is using wordplay - that "i'll be here next season" is not the same as "I will be the manager of The Arsenal Football Club next season "....and that he's going upstairs.
its never going to happen, but i can dream....
I like Ranieri a lot - he built that Chav title winning team from the ground up, (Same as GG and wenger) before maureen tweaked it. very unlucky to lose his job there.
still some very good managerial candidates around - De Boer, Ranieri, Vilanova, Benitez,
lets hope none of them end up with the vermin at the wrong end of the seven sisters...
