For all those throwing random numbers in the air re Wembley.
its a 90,000 stadium but 17,000 are sold as Club Wembley for which this game is an inclusive event so there are only ever 73,000 available .Even if you just strip out 3,000 then the maximum available to both clubs is 35,000 each and assuming they cited take their full allocation then that is how many we will get

i would like to go to this to see us play a "big" team at Wembley.
it will also probably be cheaper to watch City at Wembley than at the Emirates in the league

If we win this I just hope and pray we don't spaz out with celebrations in a tottingham-stylee. The FA Cup is one thing, but this? This is nothing. Please, no bus top parade, no t-shirts.

Re: Next game Man City Community Shield
It's definitely a very nice feeling to be part of that once again.
However , I won't get my hopes up as :
a. City will be tough to beat &
b. AW has always considered this game as a friendly ... Which is bollocks TBH
I just hope he'll play his best 11 instead of 'rewarding' the kids ...
Hopefully, we'll have a new powerhouse in CM who can pull off a Gilberto !!!

Re: Next game Man City Community Shield
Virgin are having big engineering works that weekend and there is no direct service between Manchester and London so can't see Man City selling out their allocation
Re: Next game Man City Community Shield
They didn't even sell out their own ground for their penultimate home game against Villa, the so called 'big club'UlsterGooner wrote:Virgin are having big engineering works that weekend and there is no direct service between Manchester and London so can't see Man City selling out their allocation

Yes it is nice to be back in this BUT it is just a friendly imo - granted it is a more serious friendly than the other pre season games and as a result we should expect to see a stronger starting line up, but there is no way that I would play a full strength line up and I would be pissed off big time if we picked up an injury or two in a pre season game

Agree. I went in 1999 (I think) when we beat United 3-0 and it was a great day. I also saw us lose once and win once against United in Cardiff, and it seemed to have become a bit less of an event then. Maybe it's just because we haven't been in it for fucking ages but it's just a glorified friendly for me unless there is a massive rivalry. And whilst I would hardly profess to liking City there isn't.augie wrote:G_G wrote:It's definitely a very nice feeling to be part of that once again.

Well, AFC.com has already listed it as 'Friendly' ... so there you go

It's definitely not a trophy worth a parade or anything like that, but it's always a trophy with history and relevance....
if it wasn't like that, then why would Uefa bothers to stage the Super Cup every year ??
In my eyes, the Community Shield is like domestic 'Super Cup' , so I'll be really pi$$ed to see AW play a weakened side...
he's got the Emirates Cup for giving the kids a chance to impress...
Plus we may well have the CL qualifier soon after the Community Shield , so the players are better be ready and fit for that one.
Re: Man City Community Shield
A game for the Red Members, don't give a fig about it. Not sure City will even sell it out, we probably will though as we're massive.

Hopefully Yaya Toure will have left before this match.

Have to say that I dont want yaya to leave the premiership - the attraction of the english game will dwindle significantly if it cannot retain the top players and despite the fact that he has behaved like a total dick (to put it mildly

Yeah, I'm kinda the same on that. I love to see the best players in the PL. Toure on his day is absolutely brilliant to watch. Like Vieira was. Yes, Toure is a total prick out of touch with reality, but then again aren't most modern footballers?augie wrote:VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:Hopefully Yaya Toure will have left before this match.

Re: Man City Community Shield
Fuck the attraction and quality of the premier league "brand". If it weakens a rival (yeah yeah I know
) then I'm all for it. I only care about the best players playing for Arsenal, sod the rest of em
