As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Benzema for 40 million gbp or Remy for 8 million gpb?
Remy scored 14 goals in 26 league appearances for Newcastle on loan last season.
He is 27, and has three years left on his contract with QPR, now a Premiership club.
I reckon he would be £12M minimum.

I think QPR getting promoted probably lumped a few mil onto his price. Although realistically he'll want to leave and QPR won't be desperate to keep him, being in the PL gives them a bit more bargaining power.
Apparently under the Football League's FFP rules QPR are looking at a fine of about £50m. From what I understand FL clubs can make £8m losses, the next £10m they're fined on a sliding scale up to about £6m overall and any losses over that are matched with an equal fine. QPR posted losses of £68m or something last year, and the parachute payment doesn't really cover the TV revenue loss. More FFP fun though - as QPR have gone up the FL are pretty fucked when it comes to enforcement as they can't suspend them and the PL have said they won't get involved. QPR are bound to legally fight such a huge fine and its enforceability is doubtful, not to mention that the money goes to charity (and not the FL coffers) and therefore it is complicated as to who can actually bring the claim.
Surely Remy will simply stay at QPR now? The bloke is a football mercenary of the highest order anyway, not to mention a complete pile of *****.....so lets hope that's one bullet dodged. Just Vela and Kalou to miss out on now

QPR need to clear large debts, Remy is a saleable asset.
If Remy wants Champions League football, and higher win bonuses than QPR, then he could well move.
We would at least match his reputed £70,000 per week wage.
If Liverpool are also in for him as has been suggested, then we might have to go up to £85,000 per week.

I'd rather buy 85,000 things in Poundland this week than give a penny to that spineless mercenary

Baba and Thick in the same sentence, that sounds about right.
