Bendtner; The Leg-end

Arsenal misfit Nicklas Bendtner looking for £104,000-a-week deal at his next club

I can't tell with Bendtner
To be fair he'll probably get it - it'll mean playing in Qatar or somewhere but if he has decided not to try and succeed at a big club then his choice is either sign for someone like us permanently (yes please, but highly unlikely) for a pay cut or go abroad for 100k plus. Asamoah Gyan left Sunderland for Qatar and is getting around £130k a week (tax free) and that was after a substantial transfer fee, something which they wouldn't need to pay for NB, if he can do it I'm sure Bendtner can. He'll know that he won't get £104k a week in a England or any other major european league like

Bender is clearly in such high demand that nobody has yet made an offer for the Messi-like dane who has ten minutes to run on his contract. He must be so proud.

Hilarious comments on Sky sports regarding our striker options; something like "Giroud isn't world class but does ok, Sanogo is young unproven & injury prone and Bendtner... well Bendtner is... Bendtner." followed by sniggers. Even the commentators/pundits have given up the media-speak politeness where the Fat Drunk is concerned!

What an utter Bell-End!!!!

The silly bastard probably still believes that Real / Bayern / Barca and PSG are about to start an 11th hour bidding war for him.

What? Bendtner has been released by Arsenal? I can't believe it. The world's best striker doesn't deserve such treatment

Good riddance.

Never liked him and will always remain my least favourite Arsenal player.

We should've got shot of him 5 years ago.

Can't quite believe we've finally offloaded the Fat Drunk... please, someone tell me this isn't a dream. :|

I wonder how much we paid Burnley. :rubchin:

Nicklas Bendtner, 26, is wanted by four Premier League clubs after being ditched by Arsenal. Newly-promoted Leicester City and Burnley want the Danish striker along with Crystal Palace and Hull City.

I suppose Barcawhores and Madrid are keeping their powder dry.

And so he moves on once more, this time permanently. Like a cool breeze in an overpoweringly humid summer's heat his time at Arsenal will be remembered by their fans as refreshing, but all too brief. At night their fans will dream and remember this mountain of a man, sweat dripping off his finely tuned body, scoring at the Emirates, wheeling away to celebrate, his muscles and sinews straining as he clenches a fist and jumps for joy and they will remember seeing the clouds above part, sunshine breaking through the fog and illuminating the clock on the stadium as if to say "it's time, the chosen one is here".

Moving on will be hard, for both parties, but it is a well known adage that you are best to move on at your peak, with a moment of climax, of triumph, of success. Yes, having won Serie A for Juventus, Nicklas returned to North London, the medal jangling in his pocket, full of determination. He entered an arena where failure and misery had for too long reigned thanks, in no small part, to the evil Chamakh. In one game against Coventry City, however, the tyranny was swept away, defeat was banished and Nicklas paved the way for Arsenal to regain the glory days. When they lifted the FA Cup in May Nicklas was not in the squad, like many a hero he shied away from the limelight. He had cast his spell, done his deed, and played his part against Coventry, he needed not the glare of the lens and the adulation of the support. He wasn't there for the final act but make no mistake, when scholars tell of the Arsenal cup run of 2014, Nicklas will be given more than a fleeting mention.

It would be wrong, of course, to suggest that Bendtner singlehandedly won Arsenal the FA Cup. Despite his position as one of the most decorated of the squad members we must remember there were others involved, including Aaron Ramsey who having watched Bendtner in training over a number of seasons has undoubtedly picked up some good habits and evolved into a more than useful attacking outlet.

Equally it would be wrong to attribute any subsequent success enjoyed by this squad of players solely to Nicklas's influence and legacy; as a modest man Bendtner would not wish to have these achievements laid at his door. Again, however, we know he has played a part, a role; like a vital cog in an engine he has acted as a conduit to success. And success is probably the word you would associate most closely with Nicklas, along with good, chiseled, cultured, beautiful and many other adjectives which capture the essence but never the true scale of his benevolence and talent.

Nicklas Bendtner, you have served Arsenal well, you served Sunderland well and you will forever be remembered by both. May the next chapter of your career bring further success - with a domestic cup and domestic league title in your last two seasons, maybe you are destined to win the champions league next season. You can do it, and we'll be with you every step of the way.

PS For all Gooners unhappy at his departure, fear not; this thread shall remain open for further musings, comments, updates and recollections of the great man wherever he may go (unless the mods tell me to fuck off and lock it).
