You can select up to 4 positions.
Personally feel ST, DM, RB and GK is what we need. Trust Wenger to leave us short in one of the key areas though, as always.

In before someone says "manager" and we can turn this into another Wenger thread.

Same. Striker, obviously. RB definitely needed, as is DM. Some GK cover is imperative to keep Chesney's stupid grin at bay. I think we need CB cover though as well, but went for GK in the vote.
I think we'll sign someone for one of these positions this window, no chance of getting decent cover for all 4 (or 5..)

Re: What position(s) do we need to strengthen most?
Dont care - we could buy the worlds top 4 players but we would still pigeon hole them in a failed system so as important as it is to buy quality, the system changing is probably even more important than that.
For the record I have been arguing for years that we need a big powerful DM more than any other position and nothing has changed

Re: What position(s) do we need to strengthen most?
im with augie, a proper DM would be such an improvement , but we all know we will sign a kid for up front and a full back from ligue 1 and that will be that.

Re: What position(s) do we need to strengthen most?
If we don't get a quality striker this season will be a write-off before it gets going. Priority number 1.
Right-back next priority for me, as I've said before I'd love to see Coleman signed. Far more justifiable to spent 15mil on him than fuck around with shit 5-8m players like Santos and Monreal for years.
Not as pressing in terms of quality but obviously we need a back-up keeper.
I'd love a great left-winger who actually fits our system but realistically if we can get a very good DM that would trump it (obviously we would need to offload a player or two).

Re: What position(s) do we need to strengthen most?
Goalkeeper and centre back cover is absolutely vital.
Defence is more than good enough imo with Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs and Szceszny. I trust Wenger to make the right choice concerning the right back position.
So we either get Fabregas and Remy as that would make our attack more than good enough to win the league with walcott, giroud, podolski, chamberlain, ozil, wilshere and Ramsey assisting them and playing total football- mouthwatering
Or we either become that hard, impregnable team ala Atletico that digs in hard and wins games by the odd goal and full of nervy finishes that we've been accustomed to at the Emirates in recent seasons with the addition of Javi Martinez and a quality striker better significantly better than Giroud.
Either directions we take this summer isn't going to guarantee us winning the league but I know for sure I'd rather take the total football direction where the team can entertain us more and give us something to be proud of.
It's Manchester City's or Chelsea's title to lose next season for sure.

Re: What position(s) do we need to strengthen most?
A right back is essential although we'll almost certainly take a drop in quality on Sagna, at least initially while Aurier gets going.
Defensive midfielder is essential and really we should be all over Southampton for Schneiderlin before they raise the drawbridge.
Striker is fairly essential although I don't think it will happen.
A proper left-sided player like Griezmann is essential if the striker isn't bought.
Experienced #2 goalkeeper is essential. A yoof is ok for #3 obviously but not #2
If we fill all 5 of these voids with the adequate quality I'll eat my hat and a 6th would be a bit more centre back cover to boot.

Be realistic. We'd be lucky if 3 positions get sorted. It's Wenger.Arsenal Till I Die wrote:Can only select 4?

Your original question was what positions to we need to strengthen the most, those are the positions we need to strengthen.
Realism was never a requirement to answer the question

Striker, Winger, Defensive Midfielder and Right Back.
Fill those spots and the team is as good as anyone.

Yes, depending on the quality of the replacements. To be honest if you put 4 world class players into Everton's team they would be as good as anyone in the PL.Gunnersaurus wrote:Striker, Winger, Defensive Midfielder and Right Back.

Re: What position(s) do we need to strengthen most?
They wouldn't even need to be world class, just better than what we have here, Remy, Richards and Coleman (for example) are not World Class but they are improvements to the squad and are players that we could be buying without going all fantasy football on it or complaining about not being able to afford.northbank123 wrote:Yes, depending on the quality of the replacements.
