Kolo Toure has contracted malaria and looking at missing at least some warm-up games.

He got it back in summer 2008 too and it seemed to me to be what finished him at the club. He was always stocky but a great athlete but after that he always appeared to be carrying too much timber (weight gain being a prolific side-effect of malaria). I remember going to Villa Park on Boxing Day 2008 and - I say this with a tremendous amount of affection towards him as an Invincible - the fat fuck was blowing out of his arse after about ten minutes.

Whilst he was still twice the player of some of the shit that ended up playing CB after he went (like Squillaci, Silvestre and at times Djourou) seeing the run-around Agbonlahor gave him that day was not nice and I'm glad he moved on. Not only did we get an outrageous £16m for him, he was able to earn major coin at City and Liverpool and most importantly for me didn't taint his fine reputation at Arsenal by playing on too long here.

After last nights masterclass how can anybody not put engerland amongst the favourites to win the world cup ? The way they retained possession against formidable opposition was a sight to behold and was continental football at it's best and as we speak, steve o is racing down to ladbrooks to stick a large sum on them 8)

On a more serious note, I watched the first 30 minutes or so last night and I thought that some of the tackles were a bit hairy  Not a stevie me fan at all but the tackle on him on the halfway line was shocking and certainly if I was hodgson I wouldnt be happy with it at all. Of course being the scouse c*nt that he is, gerrard exacted retribution a few minutes later

[quote="topgoon"]Who the hell voted for England, watching them now and they are dire. The usual pedestrian sh*te.

/quote]

Apparently in Never Never Land all of the English media voted for them to win it and Jimmy Hill

Haven't heard much about how Ireland's World Cup prep is going?

We battled to a hard earned draw against engerlands first opponents Italy last night 8) They reckoned playing us was the perfect preparation before facing you lot.............both are technically sub-standard, totally incapable of ball retention but who will always play with loads of heart

So that's at least 100 fellow Englishmen I've spoken to about our World Cup chances since beating Peru on Friday and still waiting to meet someone who thinks we'll win it. In fact at least half still think qualifying from the Group would be an achievement

These virtual Englishmen who think we're going to win clearly only exist in the bitter dreams of the Scots, Welsh and Irish :D

Never mind England who voted for Germany? Watching their friendly against Cameroon and they look absolutely shite going forward 8) Got the players but not the 'team' it would seem. Ozil having one of his can't be arsed games and missed a sitter in the first minute :? If he does this with Reus, Gotze and Muller around him you have to wonder, does he really want it? I'm beginning to see where spendsum4uckingmoney is coming from, especially now Fabregas is available

World cups are won within the 4 weeks of competitive games and not in the 2 weeks of meaningless friendlies beforehand

Watched u.s.a vs turkey today and the masses at the bar were singing, "i believe that we will win, i believe that we will win." At least you all stand a chance of getting out of the group

And Augie knows that only too well - some countries have only meaningless friendlies to look forward to :D

Expecting a good tournament from the French - very good sqaud of solid players (Lloris, Sagna, Kos, Ribery,Giroud, Benzema) and a group they should win.

They have got rid of the majority of the idiots *nasri* cough so i think they could even be the European Team thats gets the furthest.

Argentina for me.

With it being in South America and having the firepower of Messi, Aguero, Di Maria and Higuain it's hard to see past them... Only thing that could let them down is their defence.
