As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
Loyalty exists in football only to their bank balance . Players kiss the badge of whoever will pay them the most money. The club may not be blameless but Fabregas is one off the best players in the world, no one is holding a gun to his head forcing him to sign for the 19th history boys are they?
If Barcelona are adamant about selling him and the only other club that are willing to buy him are Chelsea, then I'd hardly say that makes him dis-loyal. I feel he'd have jumped at the chance to re-sign for us, if Wenger was willing to take him back. If anyone is showing a lack of loyalty it is Wenger. Or is Cesc supposed to just give up playing football because both Barcelona and us don't want him?
But where are his other options? Nowhere in Spain. Between Germany and Italy - if he did want to consider either - only Bayern, Dortmund and Juventus are realistic suitors for a player of his calibre and transfer fee. No chance Bayern will be interested. Juventus have Pogba and Vidal there already and I'm not sure Dortmund would see it as worth spending £30m on him given their resources and desperate need for a striker with Lewandowski gone.
His options realistically are therefore limited to whoever is interested out of Chavs, United, Citeh, PSG or Monaco. He's going to get stick wherever he goes. It will hurt to see him playing for Chelsea if he goes there and I won't hold him in the same affection but honestly what option does he have?
Exactly. Barca won't sell him for less than £30m as they're not total mugs like us. Very few teams in the world who can pay that (I wouldn't include Dortmund on that list and only Madrid in Spain could afford it) so not a lot of options. Similar situation to Fernando Torres. Hopefully he will do just as badly...
Rumours are that Juve are going to cash in on Pogba or Vidal,so he would work there.
Who would be annoyed with him going to PSG or Monaco, especially if we aren't going for him.
Fabregas is doing what he wants and has it occurred to any of you that this is Fabregas doing the ultimate F**k you to the club because we aren't buying him back. He forgets no one wanted him to go before but he forced our hand in collusion with his Beloved Barca.
I don't begrudge him but all this poor Cesc, terrible Arsene and Ivan sh*te is making me nauseous. Good luck Cesc, hope the 200k that we couldn't match helps you feel better about not going back to your koff, koff 2nd home.... Oh,oh feeling nauseous again.

Are you joking? People (you included) are painting him as a money-grabber for potentially going to Chelsea, imagine what people would say if he went to Ligue 1 to play for either of those teams. There are no suggestions at all that he has massive wage demands or that this has factored into our decision not to exercise our option.
Also suggesting he's going to Chelsea just to be spiteful to Arsenal is absurd, yeah let's blame nobody else bidding him on his petulance And you say you don't begrudge him.

How is he a mercenary!? Again, if Barcelona don't want to keep him, and no other clubs are willing to buy him BUT Chelsea, then why would he not go? Do you expect him to say, "Well if it's just Chelsea that want to buy me, I may as well retire all together!"
I've said before that I'm positive he'd have wanted to come back to us before anyone else, but if we aren't putting in a bid then you can hardly claim that he's a mercenary.
Why is it absurd,no more absurd than the belief that the only club available to Fabregas in all of Europe is the chavs. It's a possibility.
We didn't bid for him because it was felt the sums involved to match the chavs were too high.
Simple solution is he makes it known he will only sign for one club.Barca can't sell him against his will and will gladly accept the buy back fee as they have pressing targets.
I am just saying stop making this just about Arsenal. If Fabregas wants to come he would. We accepted less than we could have got for him because he left us with one bidder.
If he really 'loves' us then he will put Barca over a barrel, shouldn't be too much of a stretch for him doing that. He's had practice.

When are you and others going to realise Cesc hasnt snubbed us we have turned him down.We had first option to buy him we turned it down. The reason Cesc will not be playing for Arsenal next season is Wenger not Cesc.Stop this stupid crap about him being a mercenary. And when Ozil fails to turn up at the Etihad The Bridge Anfield and OT again next season you know who to blame

Not if Arsene doesn't want to bid for him! We have first refusal, and are deciding not to take it up, so what does this have to do with Cesc not loving Arsenal? He can't force Barca to sell to Arsenal if Arsenal aren't willing to buy.

Don you are wasting your time - truly bewildered as to the way some people are absolutely CHOOSING to ignore the fact that cesc will only sign for the chavs or mancs IF WE DONT WANT HIM He wants to sign for us and every media site out there has confirmed this, so he isn't betraying us or following the money by signing for someone else

I am dying to know how you know he wanted to come back and Cesc Fabregas, one of the best CM/No10s in Europe and only Maureen wants him.....

Well obviously I, or anyone on this forum, don't actually 100% know what's going on. But there is enough information floating about to allow people to make logical deductions about what may be going on, which is how we can have these discussions.
We know for fact that Fabregas has continuously declared his love for Arsenal and Wenger, and if we ignore the desire to be cynical about modern football, we can deduct that due to that passion for Arsenal he would logically want to return to the club he grew as a player.
Again we only have conjecture and rumour to base our claims that he's going to Chelsea. But it seems pretty strong based on the evidence available that only Chelsea have a strong interest in him, that doesn't take away from the fact that he's still one of the worlds best CM.
