What augie said.
I don't have any ill feelings towards Cesc though. What was he supposed to do, sign for Everton?

But why the hell do we have to sign him? We've got a bloody good midfield. Sentimentality be damned let's sign players we NEED.
my question to you though buddy is do you think we can win the league and CL with Wenger in charge,?? that's the bottom line

How is it it sentimentality? He's better than what we have. That's called improvement. Ozil/Ramsey/Cazrola/Jack/Fabregas with Flamini and another DM is mouth watering. Rosicky and Arteta are done in, and Diaby is fucked. There is no logical reason to have not signed him for what Chelsea have signed him for. It's hardly 40 mil is it? He's one of the best players in the world FFS!

Oh but I forgot, he was meant to retire from football entirely if he couldn't play for Barcelona or Arsenal, right? :banghead:
Because it was HIS decision to go to chelsea, no one else made that call but him.
So name the other clubs in line for him? We had first choice on him and we turned it down.Where do you want him to go Everton

The blame is squarely at the door of our clueless manager

Hardly much of decision for him when Barcelona made it clear they didn't want him, as did we. Clearly there wasn't anyone else lining up to get him, so if it was only Chelsea that wanted him what was he to do? Stay at Barcelona despite them clearly not wanting him, to potentially rot on the bench or with the reserves??

I've been saying it throughout this whole thing and it seems that I'll need to keep saying it, but anyone painting Cesc in a bad light for this is utterly insane.

It's a shame to say the least to see CESC go the those pri£k$ , but there's nothing we can do.
AW must have been really peeved about the way he left Afc three years ago and he probably wanted to show him even more that his 'dream move' ended tits up.
Also it'll serve as a reminder to other players in the future.
I'm not defending AW here, I'm just saying that we've moved on since he left and so did he.
Do you really believe that CESC will be happy to play along that C|_|nt terry after all his spats and , even worse, to be managed by Someone like Moaninho .. ???
He's probably the most hated figure in Barcelona along with Luis Figo...

Barcelona wanted rid of him ASAP , CESC's girlfriend probably wanted to move to London so there you go.
She probably had the most imput on his choice... Otherwise he could have gone to Shitty and get even more £££$££££.

Our present AND future is Ramsey, not Cesc.
The hardest of luck to him... He'll become the 'new' Mata , mark my words.
Which is a shame , really.

Ps. I guess I'll have to change my avatar ;-)

That's part of the problem. Wenger always starts the season with thin squads, knowing that an injury will create huge problems in any given position. Rather than have too many good players on his hands - and we would've been spoiled if Fabregas was among our many midfielders - he wants to do it with as limited a number of players as possible. Thus, when we fail to mount a significant title challenge, he can just point to all the players who were injured, while fans lap it up and delude themselves into thinking that if it weren't for an injury to Eduardo / Van Persie / Walcott / Ramsay etc., we'd have won the league. Honest! Same old shit, every season.

At least you have midfielders! We've got another season of Tom Not-So-Clever and Afroman! :barscarf:

This news is sickening.

Should never have been allowed to happen. How Wenger could have allowed it is beyond me and how Cesc can bring himself to play for a club so disliked by Arsenal fans is just sad.

Another transfer window kick in the gut for Arsenal. What is wrong with this club :(

Sorry. WENGER has chance to sign him, refuses, Cesc has only one option, takes it and...it's CESC fault?! No wonder AW keeps getting such an easy ride. Just how easy our idiot fans blame the players (RVP, Nasri, Cole, now Cesc)...

Fabregas will win trophies next season (I mean real ones like the league). We had our chance and the **** in charge has just handed Chelski a huge initiative
ONE OPTION???? Really???

"Cesc we've accepted a bid from chelsea"

"I'm not interested in going to chelsea"

ITS THAT EASY. It was Fabregas who decided to sign for them, not wenger or anyone at Arsenal. He could have waited and seen how the World Cup went and if any others would come in, but HE decided not too, and went to them.
THANK YOU!!!!

Shock horror - highly promising midfielder spends development years with Arsenal only to spend his peak years at clubs who challenge for the CL and domestic leagues

Who would have thought it?
