World Cup 2014 Squads and Games

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Nice try mate, but losing to our former colonies at sports we invented is nothing new. Fotunately for you lot no other *word censored* plays shitty American 'football' or baseball so you'll never know what it's like :box:
Now now.....they do invite the odd Canadian team to play in a tournament arrogantly named The World Series !
This is not a Baba FACT.

The accusation of arrogance is incorrect. The "World Series" is actually named after the newspaper "The World" that originally sponsored it.

First Suarez reaction from my victim supporting inlaw..." Suarez went to nut (headbutt) him..the Italian moved and Suarez hit him on the shoulder, because his teeth are so big he caught the defender on the shoulder "....so its unsurprisingly " nothing to see here..move along"..

Man - that is pathetic. It is like defending a convicted robber just released from prison who gets busted again.

Suarez just cannot control his temper, so he is prone to idiotic things. Unfortunately for him, this won't force a transfer from Uruguay or a renewed contract. Hopefully the FIFA ban will apply to Liverpool as well.

that Liverpool forum was hilarious. My personal favourite excuses were

"I see a slow motion image of a nodding head and that's it"
"Don't believe anything in the daily mail"
"suarez tried to headbutt him but scraped him with his teeth"
"he went for a headbutt but his teeth got in the way"
"he tried to headbutt him and the italian tried to get him sent off for a bite"

and the winner

"he stuck his head in, the italian reacted, and in the kerfuffle some part of his shoulder MIGHT have caught suarez in the mouth"

utter shambles.

Personally I dont think his ban should be anything less than one full year - sentence him to 18 months if they like and then reduce it to 12 months on appeal, but 12 months should be the minimum punishment imo

M theory on Suarez is that he was teased for having big teeth as a boy and using them to bite other kids was his way of getting his own back. It became a habit and I bet he’s done it far more than the 3 times we know about. No doubt he got through more pet hamsters than most kids.

However, is biting someone that bad? Think back to some of the 70s and 80s futuristic films where sport and TV game shows were as portrayed as having become so violent by the time we are now living in that there were even deaths taking place. The future has not lived up to the exciting expectations that films like Rollerball and The Running Man created. In fact the direction things have gone is the total opposite and I feel the public have been conned and short-changed.

With the money players are paid these days they should expect to having a few chunks of flesh taken out of them every so often. The fuss Chiellini made was quite frankly an embarrassment to football and the Gladiatorial past of his nation. With children watching I think he should be the one facing a lengthy ban.

I condone biting and applaud Suarez for his efforts to make the sanitised world of sport more entertaining.

Funny how Spain's former colonies are doing better than them isn't it? :rubchin:
