Brilliant from Messi. Although pretty dreadful for the keeper not even to get a dive in for the free-kick, was a fair way out, hardly thumped it and wasn't exactly top corner but a great hit nonetheless.

The Nigerian lad took his two goals well, first one was brilliant.

Every single one of your past colonies have outperformed you in this World Cup and you were the ones who were invented the game.

Thanks for the laughs.
This coming from someone who said we should sign Ross McCormack
I posed the question, yes. Said we should sign him, no.

Nice try mate, but losing to our former colonies at sports we invented is nothing new. Fotunately for you lot no other *word censored* plays shitty American 'football' or baseball so you'll never know what it's like :box:
Now now.....they do invite the odd Canadian team to play in a tournament arrogantly named The World Series !
This is not a Baba FACT.

The accusation of arrogance is incorrect. The "World Series" is actually named after the newspaper "The World" that originally sponsored it.
One Baba FACT however is that its about as entertaining as watching a back catalogue of Tony Pulis's greatest 0-0 draws

When I lived in the US they had one of the longest games ever (no time limit, pen shoot out). Finished about 3 in the morning. Enlivened by the fact one of the guys has my reasonably unusual surname.
http://www.astrosdaily.com/history/19890603/ This link is about as interesting as the game.

The Nigerian lad you're referring to is Ahmed Musa. Plays for CSKA Moscow. Really impressed with him, looks like a Gervinho with end product and a better decision making.

Clash wrote:M theory on Suarez is that he was teased for having big teeth as a boy and using them to bite other kids was his way of getting his own back. It became a habit and I bet he’s done it far more than the 3 times we know about. No doubt he got through more pet hamsters than most kids.

However, is biting someone that bad? Think back to some of the 70s and 80s futuristic films where sport and TV game shows were as portrayed as having become so violent by the time we are now living in that there were even deaths taking place. The future has not lived up to the exciting expectations that films like Rollerball and The Running Man created. In fact the direction things have gone is the total opposite and I feel the public have been conned and short-changed.

With the money players are paid these days they should expect to having a few chunks of flesh taken out of them every so often. The fuss Chiellini made was quite frankly an embarrassment to football and the Gladiatorial past of his nation. With children watching I think he should be the one facing a lengthy ban.

I condone biting and applaud Suarez for his efforts to make the sanitised world of sport more entertaining.

Do you reckon his wife lets him go down on her with those fangs of his?

9 international match ban and 4 months from all football from what I understand, very light imo

I assume that the ban starts from now, just watched it live and they didn't specify start date so assuming it does start now, then pretty much the first 2 months are irrelevant really.

He will be back at end of October, "Chomping at the Bit"

Could have been longer but given FIFA's inaction on most issues 4 months is about what I expected.

They have said it starts as soon as the decision is communicated - i.e. Now. As LFLG says this is a bit of a swindle because Liverpool don't have any competitive games for about 7 weeks. His ban will end on 25th Oct, and the season by that point has been packed by two fortnight-long international breaks, a few Carling Cup games and comfortable CL group games. He'll only actually miss 9 PL games, Liverpool can count himself highly fortunate that he's missing less than a quarter of the season, especially as this is partially mitigated by effectively taking him off the market.

Should be done by reference to competitive fixtures imo, what sends out more of a message? And that's meant to be the whole point of the sanction.

So he probably won't be fully match fit until midway through November. That's a big deal.

Also, I think the ban might have bigger implications. The bloke has been banned from all football. I don't know whether it does - but if that includes banning him from attending training sessions, then it will delay his comeback even more.

The bloke needs psychiatric help. I don't mean that in a spiteful way. If you're going to bite someone in a World Cup, then you really don't give a shit.

Anyway; fuck him and fuck Liverpool

There can be no doubt that fifa are the most gutless and corrupt organisation in the world - that ban is is just a cowardly bottling attempt at justice that you will ever see   If they cave even further then there should be a widespread withdrawal from fifa by the various confederations (lets face it, it is probably on the horizon anyway)
