As part of the Ray of Hope Appeal, one of our big fundraising ideas was to do the 92 ground car dash, visiting all 92 clubs in the space of 8 days. We wrote to every club in the league asking for a signed shirt, ball, pennant or whatever they could spare and we'll be auctioning what we've collected off over the next few months. They finish at Fulham for our (Liverpool's) game there today.
Day one – Samantha and The Ark
A 10pm arrival last night and a Mr Hinds pasta special saw the Appeal in good stead for the long, long, long eight day haul around the country. An early night (1.15am) also saw an early start (8am – or 5.18am if you were Matt who thought that the channel number on the DigiBox was a clock) so we rode up to the JJB Stadium at the designated hour.
We’ve been to the JJB on numerous occasions and local boy Hindsy used his local contacts to good effect. We were taken pitchside and presented with two shirts, one from Mario Melchiot and one from the entire first team, and Chris Kirkland’s freakishly large gloves. A local reporter from the Wigan Evening Post turned up to take some photos of three shivering Trustees and insisted on a strict “coats offâ€
