The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Big signings will happen this year, now the club are more financially stable after moving to the Emirates, exactly what the club said when we moved.
The Arsenal are back on business with their own money :barscarf:

Yes, but even if it doesn't happen quite a few of us will go to bed tonight excited (oooo errr misssus  ) and dream happy dreams...even if we wake tomorrow to hear they've gone elsewhere - So let us dream while we may - for tomorrow we may all be brown bread!

As it happens I'm going to a funeral tomorrow. He was 58. :( Not that I'm trying to bring you down or anything.

PS Don't apologise, I shouldn't be using it.

I'll see your Ozil and raise you every other transfer window for the last 8 years.

The last eight years we couldn't compete after moving to the emirates, it's not rocket science.

Terms agreed, everything agreed apart from fee with Barca:

This Sanchez deal is now officially in Higuain territory. I'm not going to say anything in case I jinx it.

Indeed mate. If we are interested then I expect we'll be gazumped as we quibble over a couple of million.

Good player though and I hope we can bring him in.

Mate (and please be aware that I'm saying this because I care about you as a fellow Gooner), how can you possibly say that?

This deal isn't officially anywhere. Nor was the Higuain deal. It was and still is, all paper talk. No one except fucking journos have said anything about this. So, while it is in the realms of possibility, I seriously urge you to not get your hopes up with this.

I'd say between 1 and 5% of all transfer rumours over the summer end up happening. That's all this is for now. A rumour.

Higuain wasn't paper talk and we were given permission and agreed terms with him.
Madrid in early July wanted 27 million euros we offered 23 million ,then inexplicably ,reduced the offer to 21 million when Juve pulled out of the race and signed Trevez as we then thought we were the only game in town .
after much haggling we had almost agreed at fee of 25 million when Whoooosh Cavani got sold to PSG @ 55 m Euros .Before you could say Shweinsteiger Madrid upped the price to 35 million and left the dithering Wenger with a large piece of egg on face and he rang them himself `to moan and whinge to their president and commercial director !
This isn't ITK BS I comes directly from people inside the commercial management of Real Madrid who I know very well.
They also tell me that Wenger had been after Ozil for an age and was frothing at the mouth to get him but Real couldn't sell him until they landed Bale as Spurs where determined that they didn't want us to profit from the fall out of the Bale transfer and Madrid actually assured them verbally they wouldn't sell to us !
Unlike Higgy though there was very little haggling over Ozil and we agreed their asking price right away .
You may take this with as many grains of salt as u please
