Sakho gets picked ahead of Kos for France. Is Sakho better? Not in a million years.
Varne is though and maybe its a case of Koscienly or Varne next to a tank so that argument is a bit loose.
Before the WC Kos and Varane were the first choice partnership for France. Varane is the consistent pick for Deschamps.
How good is Varane? I've not seen much of him at all but I know he'll be put in the top bracket by many because he plays for Madrid. Had an absolute shocker for the goal against Germany - any defender is capable of making a hash of a clearance or whatever but even at 21 being absolutely bullied by somebody like Hummels (who is hardly a bulldozer) like that is worrying.
He is a talented CB, very quick and strong (despite being manhandled by Hummels) and cultured on the ball. Real Madrid rate him highly and it was Zidane who recommended him to them.

both Kos and BFG have been poor this world cup - both dropped as starters.

neither have adjusted well back to man-to-man marking from zonal. AS NO NATIONAL TEAM PLAYS ZONAL, ARSENE....

yup. fuckwit wonga ruined them :banghead:
Have you actually watched the games? BFG got dropped because he was hung out to dry against Algeria by his midfielders haring up the pitch and losing the ball. It was a lack of pace and poor tactics that got him dropped, fuck all to do with zonal or man-to-man marking. Deschamps just inexplicably prefers Sakho, it's not that Koscielny has struggled with man-to-man marking.

The converse side of your argument is that under Wenger (regardless of how much of the credit he deserves) those players have built a formidable partnership whereas in two international squads hardly blessed with defensive talent they are regarded as dispensable.
formidable ? hardly - present for all the big losses weren't they - 6-3, 5-1, 6-0, 4-0 etc etc. ?

i've watched nearly every game of the WC - both lose concentration, lose their man or get caught ball watching. one needs to go and we need an replacement upgrade.

i like both players but not together. too similar weaknesses.
Yep we had a few horror shows where we defended (and played) absolutely woefully as a team, those 2 players included. But for the vast majority of the season they were bordering on outstanding, especially when you consider how inconsistent the defences at City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs were. The vast majority of people had them both pretty high on their player of the year lists.

Most transfer rumours are bullshit but it would be typical if the rumour I don't want to come through, is the one transfer that we actually complete  If he wants a proper DM then get Martinez or schweinstiger or bender but not this guy who brings no muscle to the midfie :x

Özil and Sánchez in the space of 12 months. If you told me this before August 31, 2013 I'd have laughed hysterically at you.

Admittedly I haven't been crying out for us to sign him whenever I've seen him play but seems solid enough and has enough experience to hit the ground running.
Not sure who people wanted us to sign as right back..Some people said Coleman but I'm not sure that was ever on the table and would have cost a lot for a player who's only had one or two good seasons...Aurier was rumoured but would have been a gamble.
As I said before, I think Jenkinson will be good enough to make it one day (obviously work needed) so would prefer us to buy an experienced player for a few years until he's ready...Debuchy ticks that box for me.

Personally I reckon sagna has been poor to average for a couple of seasons now, so hopefully Debuchy will be an improvement.
At the end of the day when was the last time anyone was excited about signing a full back? The position needed to be covered and job done as far as I'm concerned...move on...and let's get Sanchez (please).
Sometimes the work is done for you

:rubchin:
In what way? I don't pretend to be an expert on Coleman but he's only really come to my notice in the last 2 seasons...before that he was pretty injury prone I believe...i may be wrong, but haven't the time or inclination to look up his stats...feel free to do so and prove that he has been the best full back in the world for 5yrs....i will happily admit my error. Either way it doesn't really matter...it was never in the pipeline.
Eh...? Look, my point was evident. The rest of your reply is pointless.

As I said, you did the work for me. :barscarf:
nope...still no idea what your point is.

Fucking hell mate. I'm as WOB as the next person but blaming wenger for them being shit at the world cup is stretching it a bit...and they wasn't even that bad!

Yes Sanchez could get 25+ goals a season, provided he is given decent service. His movement is top class, he has pace and his finishing is lethal. On top of that he can also play on the wing for any matches where Wenger thinks Giroud would be better off starting. Also he's far better than any of the other realistic options we have i.e. Remy, Balotelli etc.

Signing Sanchez makes so much sense that it worries me because we all know the madman in charge has his own logic.

Ozil will break the premier league assist record next season if Sanchez signs. I expect it go to the way of Silva and Aguero in 2011-12 for city.

The record is 21 in 94-95. Can you guess the player?

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wants to bring in either Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira, 27, or Southampton's Morgan Schneiderlin, 24.

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/ ... er-3816130

I don't know too much about Schneiderlin, but whilst Khedira is a good player, from what i have seen of him in the WC so far, is he is NOT the player we need in Mid-field - ie: one who can stop the opposition in their tracks, breaking up play and protecting the back four.

Hmmmmmm :rubchin: :?

EDIT: Just checked this out...and he Scniederlin looks Good.

The two represent everything that is wrong about this current Arsenal side, great against the easy opposition or at home but fall short against real quality or away, tbf you would expect most defenders to do well at home, even Djourou had a spell where he looked good but lets not think we cant improve that area.

Koscienly is impressive but has his moments, Merertersackers 'charm' allows him the odd flaw but (for example) if someone like Hummels was signed you wouldnt think twice to drop one.

Was impressed when I saw him last year, fair bit more energy about him than Arteta.

The rumours about negredo leaving citeeh this summer seem to be growing so does anyone know why ? :? Is he or his family unsettled in England/Manchester ? Surely it isn't that he has fallen down the pecking order at citeeh ?
If he was on the market I would def try and buy him ahead of most of the other strikers we are linked with
