The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Augie whilst our weak transfer policy of only targeting players who clubs are very willing to flog winds me up, if we're talking about signing quality players from teams like Barcelona we have to be realistic and accept that it's only going to happen when they're actively trying to sell. On the other hand if we're signing players from crap teams it will be easy because we're a much bigger club who can throw their money about. Not that Wenger gives us that much reason to praise his transfer acumen these days but seems like he"s not going to get any credit either way. Higuain WOULD HAVE :banghead: been a great signing but even if we hadn't fucked about it would have been because Madrid were desperate to sell and nobody else was interested.

Although tbh its also true as said above that it doesn't make a fucking iota of difference who gets credit for what, how we shape up on the pitch is all that matters.

I accept a lot of that but I keep coming back to the transfer kitty we have and think that we should be a lot more forceful in the market than we are. We are a big club in a big cosmopolitan city, with a manager whose aura seems to mask his deficiencies ( ) and a club with huge resources so why do we not flex our financial muscles more ? I know I keep coming back to marco reus, but the guy is supposed to have a £36m buyout clause so why don't we match that clause ? It is very possible that he will turn us down but at least make him make that decision....make us seem ambitious.
Manure are a club that cannot offer champs league football this season but are a club that are actively pursuing vidal and hummels......could you see AFC doing that ? We are in a position to offer the guys as much as manure can, plus we can offer them champs league football (which is supposed to be a key ingredient to recruit players  ) so why do we not target these players ? Recruiting vidal from juve would merit massive kudo's to wenker/smarmy ivan/dickhead law but that requires being aggressive in our recruitment and we seem incapable or unwilling to be that way :(

Media team are all at Colney now, working on an imminent announcement ; have all been summoned there earlier today so it was not pre-planned

Now that's a rumour I don't believe. Abou is a perma-crock.

Arsenal have announced that three young Gunners have signed their first pro deals at the Emirates. They are: central midfielder Glen Kamara, 18; right-back Tafari Moore, 17; and goalkeeper Josh Vickers, also 18.
