The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Who remembers when Sanchez destroyed England at Wembley playing as a STRIKER? Chile won 2-0 and he scored both goals.

both

It's surprising it happened twice given how awesomely amazingly super England are and what a small football nation Chile are.

fuckin' hell, you're hard work

I was only making a bleedin observation that Salas did a Sanchez a few years earlier at the same stadium and same scoreline. He was also their star man back then - bloody great finisher. Went to Lazio and turned fat... lets hope the Salas/Sanchez comparison stops at Wembley  :o

So you expect Sanchez to be the hold up man all season in a rigid formation that won't benefit him?

I'm certain we'll change our system to suit his qualities.

Alternatively he could be the front man in a more flexible system (more 4-3-3 than 4-5-1) which utilises pace and movement rather than brawn and hold-up play to benefit the team. :rubchin: :rubchin: He could also play on either side of that formation (including in a 4-5-1) and alongside Giroud if switching to a 4-4-2.

I won't get too excited until it is actually confirmed but if we pull this off I think it will be a cracking signing. 8)
