George knows what he is talking about with regards to this issue. But it's worth remembering how long we clamoured for creativity in the central midfield in the years prior to his sacking.

When managers get an idea in their head about certain players or a style of play, it's difficult to knock them off course. George should know that better than anyone.

Bring the man in as AW's No2 or defensive supremo, I've said it for years!

There is as much chance of that happening 26may as Rebel staying sober tonight on his stag do. He got the sack from the club for accepting bungs out of the money the club paid for Jensen (i think it was Jensen) so there is no chance the club would have him back when he effectively took their money also would he want to come back as a number 2 when it could be argued he is one of the top 3 managers in the clubs history. I loved the George Graham days not as pretty as these days but f**k me did we win things and he does know his stuff about defending so i appreciate his opinion

George gets a bad press about the football the side played under him. Now I'm not saying it was like the best football of the Wenger era, but we won the League in 89 on goals scored, in 91 we were the leading scorers, and remember 92 for 92?

After 92-93 he seemed to become obsessed with defence and the "European" style and we sat through some pretty dire stuff - but only in his last 2 years or so.

The football it took should and has been forgotten. In fact, walking away from the 1993 FA Cup Final (which I'd been so excited to be at), I couldn't remember anything from the game. GG, great up to 1991, fucked it up after that with sales of Rocky, purchases of Jimmy Carter, Eddie McGoldrick etc and trousering lots of dodgy cash. I was delighted when he got the sack.

But (and Flash I do realise this isn't about to happen...) GG as No2 would be great - he couldn't get his mits on dirty cash, but could spend all his time getting our defence sorted, while Wenger concentrated on the important stuff.

I still love ol George.

He did fantastically well for the club, as player and manager. I still refer to him as Stroller. (As a player, he used to stroll around the pitch, instead of running).

And he says good things about the team and the manager.

Great to still hear "some" Arsenal people still respect GG
What he did should never be forgotten
Does my head in when I hear what Arsenal fans are singing about his mum
Would any other club (apart from no class Chelski) do this to a manager who brought so much success after many barren years.
442 showed Anfield 89 today and as it was my first experience of seeing us winning the league (being there helped) it will always be the best for me.

He rightly got the sack but he's done his time

I was disappointed we didn't sign Woodgate...he's a superb defender, and would have really improved us, especially in light of the "defending" of Toure, Gallas and Senderos since the transfer window closed

That said...Woodgate has only started 9 league games since January, so even now, he's still far from putting his injury troubles behind him.

Now he's a spud...lets hope Woodgate and King continue with their regular visits to the treatment room

That is very true. Anfield '89 and the 1991 title beating the Manc dross 3 - 1 to lift it at Highbury with a Smudger hat trick and me and all the others on the old North Bank (STANDING - mind !) going mental.

Those were the - Happy - days.

Gone but never forgotten by true Arsenal fans. Not those who feel that the only way to bolster a faltering present, is by trashing a make believe past.

Fortunatley there aren't any of their sort here 8)
