Anyone who puts diaby in their team sheet, much less ahead of the ox and arteta, cannot be taken seriously imo

Their heights make no difference tbh. We have no one (apart from the seldom used Jenko) that can actually cross a ball into the box effectively on a regular basis.Supagoon wrote:My only reservation is set pieces, we have quite a small team. Although Walcott and Sanchez will be largely interchangeable and there will still be a significant role for Giroud in certain games.
Perfect !!
wally (5ft 9") ---------sanchez (5ft 7") -----------cazorla (5ft 6") Is there a smaller forward line anywhere in pro footie ?
If City play Aguero, Nasri and Milner/Navas is the same as us really.
They have the option Dzeko, erm we have Giroud. It's the idea of putting Giroud down the middle that makes us still so poor.
Also Liverpool, Sturridge, Suarez, Sterling..wasn't very big

Re: How should we line up next season?
To be fair DB - if they are our front 4 then we wont want a single ball in the air in the attacking half. It's either going to be attacking one twos at the edge of the box or beating wide backs then hitting the by-line and playing it back. Corners will be a waste of set pieces.DB10GOONER wrote:Their heights make no difference tbh. Gee Nos - I know Jenks is only average but it's a bit harsh including him in a 12 man starting side and assuming no one will care.Nos89 wrote:With players we currently have;

No Aaron Ramsey?
Blasphemous, really.
Re: How should we line up next season?
There's picking you best players and there's picking a team to suit a strategy with balance - this is mine. For how I think we should play then his only slot is where Ozil is and for now I prefer him.VAVAVOOM 14 wrote:Swifty wrote:4-1-3-1-1

Generally, your best players are present in the starting lineup as they enhance everything.Swifty wrote: There's picking you best players and there's picking a team to suit a strategy with balance - this is mine. Ramsey is critical to us offensively, but more important is his defensive contributions: most ground covered in the league last season, 2nd most amount of tackles made - and he's a CM FFS!
He's literally the complete midfielder, no way should he not be on the pitch.
P.S.
What makes you think Wilshere "reinvented" (whatever that means), warrants a starting spot ahead of Ramsey who's better than Jack in virtually all facets of the game?

no offence Robin, but thats stupid. Gibbs will get raped or Rambo gets pulled across - either way, we get stuffed a la Liverpool and Chelsea.Robin_L wrote:-------------------Szczesny--------------------

Re: How should we line up next season?
Why not? A fit Diaby will contribute more to the team than Arteta. Because if we get a decent holding mid then Arteta will not play. Probably some of us are stuck (in our minds) with 4 2 3 1 formation. I included Diaby in a 4 3 3 formation above. I expect with the acquisition of Sanchez that there will be some deviation from our customary 4 2 3 1 to 4 4 2 or 4 3 3 at times depending on situation. The thing is, Sanchez is versatile to fit in all there formation. Still need a decent CF imhoaugie wrote:Raggy wrote:

Re: How should we line up next season?
I know it's probably been done already but I will do it anyway let.
We should line up with 11 players and 7 subs.
It's not clever and probably not funny but I'm awake at 6am on a bloody Saturday because my 6month old decides to wake up an hour ago, feeds and then has the cheek to go back to sleep leaving me wide eyed. F**K being clever.

Re: How should we line up next season?
Just about everyone has to shoulder blame in those games but which of the 11 goals were caused by our wingers' failing to track back? Nearly all came from 3 on 3/4 on 4 counter-attacks or being ridiculously carved apart by through balls. Just seems a bit of a throwaway comment to blame the wingers for that.clockender1 wrote:no offence Robin, but thats stupid. It's an extremely fine balance you have to strike with the wide men and one I don't think we do very well. Too often the likes of Podolski have been asked to practically babysit Gibbs - why on earth would we want our wing forwards removed from the danger area so that Gibbs can fly forward and spunk a cross at the first defender??
