The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I know he got MoM v Brazil, but I don't recall him being pivotal to Madrid's successes last season. He is obviously a very good player, but is he ''stand-out 'good?, which surely he must be, if record wages are needed to secure him. I think there may be a danger that he is a 'name' and that's what everyone want to see. Just a thought, but how much would Joey Barton cost? He might be a complete prat, but he's a very decent player in that sort of position. And he is used to the physical side of the Prem, which some continental players take a while to get used to....

Block 93 of the insane asylum ?
Must be

Started reading the post and found myself agreeing until the Joey Barton line came from nowhere. Like watching porn and then all of a sudden this 'girl' flops out a huge cock.
Yeah, that's happened on more than a couple of occasions.  Especially with them Asian chicks! :rubchin: :rubchin:

Just watched this interview (on Pravda) with Theo - and when he was asked about the signing of Sanchez...he spoke about his skills, youth (same age as Theo) and pace....and then said something along the lines of 'with him on one flank and me on the other, teams are not going to like playing against Arsenal next season'...I wonder if he knows what position wenger is planning to play Sanchez then? :?

Thank fuckity fuck for that - Remy is free to partner Rickie Lambert in that dream strike force ready to win the CL

You'll regret the day you said that

I called it.

Sanchez will play on the left with Theo on the right. Wenger will sign a real CF.

arsene himself said Sanchez can play wide or as a striker.

So I respect Theo's view on things, but Sanchez has the traits to be a fine striker.

The comments from his agent seemed a bit suspicious to me - he def seemed to be holding the door open for Madrid by saying that he hasn't decided to leave which is usually agent talk for "give us more money and he will stay"
The thing that stands out most to me is that khedira is currently on £50k per week.......he's now looking to get £150k per week ??  Even in wenker's crazy wages world a player couldn't get a 200% wage increase could they ?
Not that they're in the know, but my Madrid-supporting mates have told me all along that Khedira is just after more money and that he wants to stay here.

I'm not unhappy about signing Debuchy, he's a sfae bet, but if we really paid 12 million, it's too much.

Holding midfielder, back up keeper and centre half now required.....is he gonna do it ?
Keeper done (Ospina), holding midfielder one of Schneiderlin or Khedira, center half depends on TV staying or going.

So if he stays we wont be signing another centre back ? We will go into this season with 1 back up centre back and he has missed massive chunks of the last 2 seasons

I think we have made a solid start and are at least doing our business a lot earlier this season.

Sanchez (still wow!) - done, Debuchy (solid) - done, Ospina (again solid) - looks done and we are definitely sniffing around for a DM, be it Khedira or A.N.Other it looks like we are after one.

For the first summer in as long as I remember we are making early signings, in areas we really need them and have signed or are after players of the calibre that will allow us to improve.

If you can't get optimistic now as an Arsenal fan when you have been moaning for so long about lack of activity, not going after the right calibre of player, not spending enough money, leaving it too late, etc etc etc,you might aswel give the game up.
