Wilshere is too small to play as a DM - he also goes to ground too easily, in that role he would need to be able to stay on his feet to tackle (defend) AND not fall over like a drunk every time anyone goes near him.

he has 'skill and quality' which he showed in abundance earlier on - but since signing a big contract and becoming a regular in the 1st team - we only get to see glimpses of that potential and ability occasionally. I was so hoping he would become a world class player, there is still tie of course, but he will need to change his attitude both on and off the field, I sincerely hope he does because he has the potential to be an Arsenal legend.... if he stops swaggering around and starts 'playing 100% every game' - that and hopefully avoiding any further long term injuries...maybe he will do a Ramsey and regain his initial promise and drive.

Half of Wilshere's problem is that he's too impulsive. He chases round when we're not in possession and when we've got it he puts his head down and runs down blind alleys too often. It doesn't really bode well for a position whose biggest requirements are positioning, discipline and anticipation. Also agree that he would be far too keen to go to ground.

That said it could be the making of him, who knows. But it's the sort of experiment best initially limited to Carling Cup and CL group stage games. And tbh with his injury record he's not going to stay fit for more than 2 or 3 games there at a time at that regularity without getting injured.

jack, one of our most fragile players as a defensive midfielder?

no thanks!

His ankle is delicate and the last thing he needs is the responsibility of being our no1 tackler.

Been saying for a while now not to get your hopes up that he wasn't going to sign one.

In AW's eyes we already have 2players for every position

Gk Chesney/wouldn't be shocked if Vivian comes back
RB Debuchy/Manvuillo/Jenkinson
CB BFG/Kos/TV5, don't be surprised to see no one else come in
LB Gibbs/Monreal
DM Arteta/Jack
CM Rambo/Diaby/Rosicky
LF Poldi/Sanchez
RF Walcott/Gnabry
ST Giroud / Sanogo

Becoming depressed at this distinct possibility is an understatement.

So the confidence and adamant assertion that we are now back in the big time and are about to really flex our muscles in the transfer window, now seems to have slipped away to be replaced with the view that we wont sign another centre back, we wont sign a defensive midfielder and we can look forward to another season of the big immobile frenchman up front

Season ticket holders will have been appeased by the signing of Sanchez. The chequebook will now be put away.

What's that, you don't like it? Well, you can go and support that lot up the road then.

Also, how shit is Özil when he can't even be considered 1 of 2 for any position?

It also allows all the AKB's to go bleating sheeple like about how wenker is still the person for the job...all because he has managed to sign a player - brilliant though he is - before attending to the VERY REAL Needs of the team - ie: An out and out Absolute World Class Striker, A thoroughbred (takes no prisoners) DMF who is young, tough and disciplined who knows how to read the game and position himself so he can do his job and Defend The Back 4, also two full backs of "Quality" left & right flanks - Gibbs is too lightweight and prone to injury, Jenks is still learning and (again) Debuchy is too lightweight, and of course last but not least a top Goalkeeper of quality and experience to show the gobby pole the ropes....but hey I've only been supporting The Arsenal longer than wenker has been in football what the feck would I know!? :?

Raggy wrote:One very good signing and a decent one. Well done so far Wenger.

Just to cap it off with a CB (or 2 if Verms leave), CDM, GK and a CF (doubt this)

I think Wenger will play this:

OG as CF
Sanchez - LAM
OZ11 - CAM
Theo - RAM
Aaron and new CDM

So it would seem that it's Santi who is most 'affected' by Sanchez' purchase and not Theo or OG

I doubt he will buy a center forward after spending so much one Sanchez. Matter of fact Yaya will get some games as CF too. I still think we should offer 27 Mil for Jackson Martinez.

CB - Fabian Schar
CDM - Bender/Javi Martinez, Gustavo, Schneiderlin. In that order

Hopefully Ospina comes home.

Peace
You know nobody (including the mods) reads your posts beacause of the stupid colour. And as for the "Peace", fcuk off.

Noticed you seem to have a hard on for getting rid of Walcott. He doesn't have a trick but has an incredible amount of pace and a very good eye for goal and his cut backs to the oppos penalty area are good. To get a player like him would cost us £25-30million in today's market plus his wages.

Yaya Toure is great as a rampaging box to box CM,but he is essentially a physically imposing Rambo. I watched him a lot last season just to see his movement and for the wages and transfer fee, it would be a waste of money. He is a liability defensively. If you don't believe me check out how often his loss of the ball leads to a counter attack from the opposition.

One of our goals in the 6-3 was directly as a result of him losing the ball,I think it was to Rambo.

He does it a lot. In the WC, he did it quite a few times. He only works as a DM against weaker opposition. He needs a more disciplined DM next to him.

Don't think we will get a DM and I don't think we'll let TV go. Probably do Sagna. Probably still end up with Remy when he realises that with his questionable off field behaviour no one will pay him 85k a week. We are not all as F**king stupid as twitchy.
Well said mate. Also I’m not sure it is khdira's salary demands that are the problem. I’m almost entirely sure that the £20m compensation Real Madrid are asking for is the problem. That is a huge sum for a player in the last year of his contract, especially one who is just recovering from ACL surgery. If we were to pay that sum, it would push his entire contract over £50m

Really had to stop reading there.

The trendy term of a DM was coined largly due to the performances of Makelele as a more defensive minded midfielder, arguably the best at that type of style.

Jack is taller....

Opinion is not fact.
