Medical Staff Review
Re: Medical Staff Review
Squad rotation would help a lot this season with an improved medical team should cut a lot the injuries out of the team.

The lack of tactical versatility begets a lack of squad rotation, despite our options there (which are invariably slashed by various injuries/ailments at any one time).SVChowd3r wrote:Squad rotation would help a lot this season with an improved medical team should cut a lot the injuries out of the team.
On his comeback from a lengthy injury we gave Walcott 3 part-games to bed in and then flogged him for 90 minutes 5 times in a fortnight - sure enough it ends with an innocuous ACL injury, of which fatigue is a major cause.
Ramsey's game was really dynamic last year and was barely given a rest until he pulled a hamstring over the busiest period - Wenger even acknowledged he needed a rest but he was too important to us to rotate so we kept playing him until he was injured.
Ozil coming into a far more competitive and physical league not only played virtually every game, he played 90 minutes pretty much every time. Muscular injury, surprise anyone?
Some injuries are just bad luck and with a bigger squad of players you're gonna get more injuries. Incompetent medical/physio methods obviously play a part but ultimately if Wenger is flogging these players out on the pitch it's a recipe for disaster in itself.

We've apparently hired Shad Forsythe, German national team fitness coach. Hopefully he'll help minimize our susceptibility to injuries.

The problem we have is that the squad ,up until now, has not been big enough for all the games we play
We start our season before most other teams in the Premier League because we have to play CL play off
and he likes to play certain players at every opportunity . He player Ozil in the FA Cup v Coventry FFS
for a full 90 mins. He has to bring players back too quick because the squad players aren't really good
enough to start every game. And he picks players when they are in the Red zone, so we shouldn't be surprised when
they get recurring injuries
This season I think will be different. Our squad players are 1 year more experienced and will be more confident
after the FA cup win so he will be able the rest players use the squad properly

If he rests Ramsey who else will offer that dynamic CM role linking defence and attack and arriving late into the box to get on the end of chances? It was a miracle we didn't run van Judas into the ground in 2011/12 but the one league game he didn't start that year was Stoke at home if I recall correctly, where we were labouring at 1-1 before he scored twice off the bench. Wenger didn't dare rest him again and he'll continue to be reticent rotating key players going forward.guybwood49 wrote:The problem we have is that the squad ,up until now, has not been big enough for all the games we play

Tbh I'm not sure that our squad is as small in some areas as people claim. Taking last season as an example, we had several senior players in each midfield/attack role. Flamini, Arteta, Wilshere, Ramsey, Rosicky, Cazorla, Ozil, Podolski, Walcott, Chamberlain, Giroud, Sanogo, Bendtner - that's 13 senior players for 6 positions. And that's without including players like Coquelin or Gnabry, or of course Diaby. We had plenty of players, just not the depth in quality. And as great a signing as I think Sanchez is, it doesn't entirely address that issue especially as we may yet see somebody leave in his place.

I dont think it is the players which are injury prone I think its a combo between poor physios and training methods. I hear brazil has some great physios & sport scientists so maybe we should get a few experts from there.

I think our players would be better off under the care of Hawkeye & Co at the M.A.S.H unit (57th?)
