As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.
It's being reported that they have bid again for Carvalho but both clubs can't agree on a price, there's a 10M difference in valuation.... Get the feeling you've been here before
We are trying to force them to accept our low bid because they are desperate for the cash and because after an initial interest, thanks to Van Gaal, Manure are now putting all their eggs in the Vidal basket.
Bizarrely this transfer could happen by default because we are the only bidders, even if it's a sh*tty bid. Better to lose the player for £24m than he stays on the shelf, has a sh*te season and you lose him for 10M.
The sums Southampton are getting in for some of these players are crazy. Lambert at £4m is a fair price. But £25m for Lallana? £30m for a young full-back with this mystery lethal attacking prowess? £20m for Lovren, who they bought for much less than half that last year and wasn't really outstanding. And £16m for a back-up full-back?
To be honest Southampton knew this day would come and if they hadn't pissed away the best part of the £70m they spent (without recouping anything) they would still be in a great positioning raking in all this cash for replaceable players.
There must be a few on here that watch a lot of Southampton football. The lad has just 24 senior appearances to his name and the experts round here reckon he's the real deal? Massive gamble IMO.

Well looks like they got that one bang smack on....
If we have Chambers, Jenko and Debouchy in the RB position maybe AW is going to have one of them switch to LB as well? - as we all know he's not averse to playing players in positions they've not played in before (Sanogo main letter deliverer - re-positioned to striker! )..Or TV5 LB and Chambers CB cover..Gibbs too lightweight for me....If not then Jenko may well be on his way out...which is sad because he is 101% Gooner....and always gives his all, which is more than can be said for some of our players.
Also Chambers can switch to CB (BFG & Kos 1st choice) ( Chambers & TV5 second choice / Cup games)
Feel sorry for the saints fans though - Katharina Liebherr (the new owner) looks like she is doing things her way - whether Pochettino knew this was coming or his departure was the beginning of it???
We still need a proper DM - Jack is a gifted player - But the past 2 seasons he has become less effective, going to ground too easily, whinging and moaning more than he kicks the ball - also there are concerns over his fitness - both inury wise and his life style...to play at the top these days you have to be 100% focused and disciplined.

Also clubs now know that we have the Money so why not just pay up - Not over pay - just the going rate -Carvalho would be a fantastic signing...and if AW does use Sanchez as a striker or false No9 - then we truly could challenge for the title for the first time in a long time.....
Come on wenger don't fuck about - if he's available just go get the fucker!

Have only seen him a few times, but all buys are a gamble - unless you're an Ozil or a ......

Really excited about this. We haven't had a quality English RB since Dicko, and you don't say no to elite English talent.
How can you expect Sanchez to play 45+ games in one of the most physically demanding leagues in the world while being about 5'7? Assuming he doesn't get any injuries of course. It doesn't matter if Wenger decides to put him there in the predictable formation he always uses, he is not a natural out and out striker. How do you fail to grasp such basic information?
Giroud, NOT GOOD ENOUGH, Postman, NOT GOOD ENOUGH, Campbell, NOT GOOD ENOUGH. If Sanchez gets injured these are our backups.

Heard we'll give them Gnabry.
Debuchy & Chambers >>>> Sagna & Jenkinson
Another upgrade this summer, well played Wenger.
And Augs is still as miserable as ever.
Do you have too much sugar in your diet?

How is he elite talent? What has he done thus far that has set the football world alight? Nothing.
He is a young lad with a lot of potential and a lot of hype which could make or break him. Calling him elite talent before his career has really taken off (in the sense of starting/playing a lot more) is probably one of the silliest things you have posted to date. I understand you are excited about our new signings but there is a limit to excited optimism and unrealistic farfetched comments.
On another note, might just be worth a couple of squid on SOTON to go down.

Tevez didn't seem to have any problems playing upfront on his own for City at 5'7".
Sanchez is a fighter. that's more important than size or lack of it.

Listen, I have a Saints mate who can't stop raving about him and Luke Shaw (reason why I was so gutted he went to the Mancs). Says the pair are the best fullbacks he's seen in a Southampton shirt.

And we have a member on here who can't stop raving about Diaby, doesn't make him any good.
Just because your mates say he's good still doesn't back up your elite comment. The young lad has dome nothing as of yet to be put in that bracket.
Blake said: “Chambers is in the first team at Saints at the moment and is doing very very well. “He can [play at centre back] all the time, but obviously that’s not my decision.
“He’s played wide right and centre midfield and always turned out accomplished performances.
“I personally think long term that Calum will make an excellent centre half.
“He’s doing very well at right back but he’s got very good reading of the game and is very clever.
“The reason why I selected him as a centre back is because I know what he’s like getting back and forward in the right back position.
