POLL: Our new captain

Post by 1989 »

With Vermaelen all but gone, we'll have a new captain this season. Who would you like it to be?

Gotta be Mertesacker. Please not Arteta.

BFG is already the team leader in everything but name.

I voted for sanogoals on the basis that somebody always buys our captains and the Royal Mail are recruiting at the moment

No surprises that it is BFG for me - always been a big believer in Mertesacker 8)

Might have come a season too soon for Ramsey. If he has another flyer could easily see him in that role in the future.

Per is the natural choice

Not sure I see leadership skills in him tbh - I know that wenker downplays the importance of captaincy but your captain should always be your leader not your best player 8)

Metesacker - captain
Ramsey - vice captain

if Vermaelen goes I would like to think we will buy another CB by the end of the window though.
mind you I would like a DM and a CF as well and we all know that it is not going to happen.

BFG Captain.

If only Wilshere had a more certain place I actually would make him vice captain. It may give him something to concentrate on and feel increased responsibility. Have seen a few players over the years improve with captaincies.

Rambo may feel overly responsible and loose his form a bit unnecessarily.

Agreed. But a captain should also lead by example and Rambo is a leader on the pitch by example. Wether he has the man management skills though I agree is yet to be seen and I wouldn't rush to hang it on him.

the captaincy seems to be cursed since Big Tone retired.

who ever gets the captaincy seems to leave within 12 months, Vieira, Henry, Gallas, Cesc, RVP and now Vermaelen

I wouldn't want it if i was Merts :D :D
