The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Why? We don't need the extra 5 quid. Sell him to a team we're unlikely to face this season at all.
Why so UTD can buy somebody better?

If we fleece United for £15m for him I certainly won't be losing any sleep.

Vermaelen is exactly the sort of defender they needed last year - he could be playing in a warzone and he will put in stoic performances with the odd hiccup, hence why he stood out for us when our defence was a mess whilst the likes of Koscielny and Mertesacker struggled disproportionately when they first joined a ropey defence.

But if you're building a really consistent defence who rely on discipline, positioning and anticipation to snuff out danger, these assets become less important and his weaknesses come to the fore and his mistakes will be relatively more costly. It's a lot harder to overlook fuck-ups when he's not saving your skin with great last-ditch tackles etc.

And that's if he's fit.

Back page of the Standard.

"Juventus interested in Wilshere."

I would sell for the right money.
A gamble as he has huge potential, but he could go either way and be a bit of David Bentley.

Radamel Falcao to the Victims.

Elsewhere from the same organ- one-trick up-and-down-running machine di Maria to red scum:

http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... d-interest
One trick pony Di Maria, did you nap through the champions league final, he controlled the game and won them the game. Bale was f**king awful in that game, ends up at the right place on the end of a di maria move for a tap in the British media make out like he won La Decima single handed.

It was a fine display of wing play.
You'd have thought I called you a *word censored*.

I watched it, dunno why you've gone off on one regarding Bale as I didn't mention him.

I just don't particularly rate ADM is all.
Calling one that would be odd especially if Topgoon hasn't just called you a know nothing gormless tw*t  :-P

Topgoon only mentions Bale because his contribution to that final was exaggerated for a player that was wasteful and poor compared to MOTM the underrated ADM.

This is the only reason Topgoon would support the sale of TV to that lot.

Seemed like one of the more far-fetched rumours of the summer. Does anybody think there would be any genuine interest on either side?

Topgoon posted this rumour earlier on today and the source is Metro so make of that what you will.

Sadly the mods have to read your shite and I am sorely tempted to give you some temporary bans so I don't have to get some new glasses. :x
