As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

When exactly? I am curious at the points we gooners randomly start hating on our players.
Song was, is, and always will be utter utter dogshite He waddled his fat hole around the park, unable to tackle and too stupid to not keep conceding cheap free kicks People who don't know fcuk all about the game will look at him and his few exceptional assists and be unable to see past them and properly assess his overall game cos the reality is that he was never anything better than average. Arteta was and is still 10 times the player that useless Cameroon c*nt is and was a proper midfielder creator until le cock decided to turn him into a DM but it was a role that he did selflessly and always thought first of the team and then of himself - compare that to that other useless *word censored* who frequently went missing from his DM role as he searched for the chance to make a Hollywood pass that would put him in the papers tomorrow, but all the while our defence were getting exposed time and time again
People say that signing henry or PV4 or anelka was the best bit of transfer business wenker ever did, but for me getting 15m for that c*nt is far and away the best piece of transfer business in the history of our great club
I'm going to get murdered for saying this but I would like to see Sanogo have a go as a DMC against City. He's got a good first touch, strong, tall, skillful. Kinda reminds me of Yaya Toure.

As I said, and we have all agreed on: HE IS NOT A DMC, he was played as DMC because Wenger is too fucking cheap and has a hatred of defensive midfielders. Was he shit? No, he was talented but wasn't played in the role he was talented in. Just because a player isnt that good doesn't mean we laugh and hate the guy. He gave everything for us and improved dramatically from the crap player he was in 08/09 to tearing Chelsea apart the season after.

I agree.
I also feel we should field Szczesny at left back, play Arteta in goal and shove Monreal up front.
You honestly feel that we should play Sanogo as our defensive screen against City?

There's alot of rambling here, most of it incorrect, but there's an interesting point we can look at for the sake of debate.
Artera rightly so has built up a lot of goodwill as he's clearly sacrificed his natural game to play a role for us, but in the cold light of day, who would you rather have in the DM role, Song or Arteta? For me it's Song all day. I think we're quick to forget how much of a presence he was in the midfield. Yes, regular fouls, but he didn't let people waltz past him like Arteta does.
I think Arteta is stuck between a rock and a hard place, he's playing a position he clearly isn't suited to, and he does it admirably, but if right now you asked me who you'd rather have I'd go with Song all day.

In a worthless throwaway dustin bin lid 'competition'? God no, lets not jeopardize that by trying something new.

I agree it is a glorified friendly, but the bloke is barely a striker and I'm not sure that Wembley is the occasion for him to wheel out his best Makelele impersonation.

Oscar v Arteta. Gee I wonder who will win that confrontation.
People forget that Yaya Toure trialed for Arsenal as a CF.
Good luck for the future at Barca TV5. Yeah - we always looked better with you in the side. I would still liked to have seen you as a defensive midfield player for us. Going forward you can make a couple of mistakes & someone covers for you unlike CB !.
Mr Wenger - where's the replacement for Thomas ?.
Topgoon is slightly bemused that 2 pages of a transfer thread have been wasted on a complete and utter WUM.
Reason doesn't exist in his posts from Özil to Song to Sanogo, the new Vieira
No one wants to burn you, just want you to stop talking bo**ocks.
Song was average, with a physicality that was used for stupid tackles in dangerous areas, rash and completely lacking discipline required for his role. He knew what his role was yet would be caught out continually at the wrong end of the pitch.
Topgoon won't say he lacked football intelligence because there is no such thing. He just lacked discipline and professionalism required for his role. If you cannot see that then topgoon feels rather sorry for you.

I didnt say he was world class or Viera. I would like to see him have a go in midfield though for a game, just to see if he does alright.

The answer to your question is neither. One is ill suited to the position but performs ok at it till faced with a much more mobile team, whilst the other is no good at it.
Wanting Song back is like wanting Chamakh back, madness.
