There is great depth but the squad balance isnt quite right. We still lack a CB and a DMC.

Positives:

- I thought Szczesny had a good game. He was really taking responsibility for his box. He's been working on his kicking, too. He seems to finally be able to clear the halfway line!
- Debuchy looked pretty good going forward. Very good crosser of the ball and seemed to link up well with Alexis.
- Chambers looks a quality footballer. Still young and very raw, he will need time to settle in. But I like what I see so far.
- Gibbs had a decent game.
- Wilshere and Arteta had solid games.
- Aaron fucking Ramsey.
- Cazorla looked to be his quality, talented self and Alexis looked lively. What I find most promising about The Dirty One is that defences (based off of what I saw from City) will be shit scared of him. Once he gets a bit more match sharpness, I'm sure he is going to be something else.
- Sanogo, not for the first time, caused absolute mayhem in their defence a few times.
- We've got some fucking pace back in the team!

Negatives:

- Nacho Monreal at centre back is something we're going to have to deal with this season.
- While promising; Chambers does seem a little on the slow side.
- Sanogo is not a professional footballer. Sorry, but everything he does feels completely random.
- ...and he definitely ain't the answer to the DM conundrum.
- Wilshere still has not cut out the perpetual going to ground at the slightest touch.
- I think we're a long way off being physically ready for the season.

Chambers is anything but slow.

And no, we won't have to see Monreal at CB because we're getting a new CB.

Well there's a surprise.

Meanwhile, on the 'can we win the league?' thread...

Looking at that second goal we moved the ball really quickly from the edge of our box to the back of theirs. Yes it wasn't exactly the Invincibles carving a team apart but it was clever positioning from Sanchez to drop deep/wide and a great ball, a good decision by Sanogo (albeit helped with a bit of luck) to cut back inside and great work from Ramsey to bust a gut and get forward there.

It was a clinical touch and finish, but it was his movement that made the goal. Although his composure in front of goal was immense last season, so much of it is down to arriving at the right time and right place. If you lose your runner and hit the box just as somebody is cutting the ball back if you have a decent finish on you you're gonna be favourite to beat the keeper.

Mind you, what the fuck was Clichy doing? Didn't exactly get turned inside out by Ramsey's touch, just stood a few yards off him and didn't really make any effort to get a tackle/block in :?

Ah, you see - that's the beauty of the English language. I said he seems a little on the slow side. Which I think is fair enough seeing as he got skinned by Edin "Roadrunner" Dzeko.

I am not foolish or childish enough to make definitive judgement one way or the other based off of minimal viewing.

Well, once we've signed someone I will feel a lot better about that. Until we've signed someone however, my comment remains factually correct.

You know what, Spendsum4uckingmoney, I'm going to share something with you. A few weeks ago I didn't like you (as a poster) all that much. The constant criticism of Özil seemed weird to me. Then it transpired that you're actually on a mission to say random things on here just to piss people off.

Whereas that seems to be working with most posters on here, I actually see the funny side of it. I don't think you're a Sp*rs fan. I think you're a Gooner who just enjoys taking the piss

Yes he probably did for his own future.

He should have been playing right FB over Clichy today. A half fit Sagna would have done a better job.

Let's not get carried away. Aguero wouldn't let us get away with Monreal at CB. Kompany wouldn't have been bullied by the postman but the midfield was almost their first choice so they shouldn't have been so easily over run. I couldn't work out their formation.

The lesbian is still an enigma,he's either world class or a bottling :censored:.

Glad we won, glad the boys and fans had a good day out at Wembley but the result reflects more negatively on shitty's fringe than it reflects on us.

Opening up Pulis and Palace next week will be a lot harder than that.

Some of the gems Spendsum comes out with would give RedMember pause for thought.
