The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

If we don't make a nother big purchase this makes a mockery of all the bs the club has been coming out with and will prove what their ambitions really are.

We have lots of money still. We are still short. Just spend what's needed to fill the gaps.
we have spent a lot this summer but we won't buy anyone now as we have done enough to ensure top 4 again this season.
where has the club ever said that the ambition was to win the league?
the ambition is to stay at the top - and that means top 4, nothing more.

Corrected that for you to reflect reality.

We have a pressing need for another centre half but I don't expect Wenger to act until CL qualification is secured. Once achieved I imagine he'll low-ball on the 31st in an attempt to get someone on the cheap.

Failing that......

Internal solutions are coming :barscarf:

Even the most pessimistic on here recognise that we have a squad well capable of making the top 4 this season and since that is the mark of the clubs ambition, why would Wenger make another signing of any significance

Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas - they want €10m for him. Juventus are interested in him also.
TBH I've never heard of him so I don't know if he's any good or not.

There's a lotta talk in the crappy media about Cavani for £51m. It's most likely rubbish but he'd definitely improve our chances of contending. We need a striker of that ilk in order to compete realistically.

With the kind of service we are capable of providing to any striker - Cavani - could notch up quite a few goals for us!

Agree he was Utter Toilet in WC - But all the service went to messi - and Cav's (well if he does come we need a nick name for him! :D  ) - had to play the support role instead of striker - which is not his normal position or game.

£51 mill - Naaaah! wenger will never spend that much wonga on a player - on a french DJ maybe!..But A striker ...No Chance.

He must have been thinking of Higuain. (or Suarez)

From Wenger's actions in making Arteta captain I think he'll be looking to bring in another centre back who can possibly cover defensive midfield too, no douvt after the Besiktas ties!
