Bergkamp was overrated or "WUM 101"

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

O.k let's for argument say that he didn't mean it , then we should just praise him for being so quick thinking to take advantage of the situation. Whichever way you look at it , he was just brilliant.

Tier A* Messi, CR, Pele etc
Tier A Ibrahimovic, Ronaldo
Tier A- Thiery Henry, Xavi, Iniesta, Ronaldinho
Tier B+ Zidane, Bergkamp (I think Bergy would be ahead of Zid slightly)
Tier B Giggs Scholes
Tier A Messi, Pele
Tier B The others
Tier C Giggs (great player, but not quite the genius of the others)

Virtually impossible to categorise players like that in my humble opinion.

No goalkeepers ? Zoff, Yashin, Banks, Jennings, ?

No defenders ? Maldini, Moore, Beckenbauer, ?

Left out Cryuff ? Eusebio ? Best ?

Anyway, it is all subjective, down to opinion rather than FACTS !!

Even then, what "facts" would you use in order to discern who's the better player?

Goals scored, honours won, individual awards?

It wouldn't work as all of those are circumstantial; for example, Michael Carrick has 5 PL titles and a CL medal but no one would classify him as an all time great yet his resume is better than 99% of all players.
