Re: 6,000 Empty Seats a game
some of us struggle to get tickets when the chance arises that we can afford to go.
others who have money burn dont even turn up and cba to transfer their tickets.
my, how the other half live.

Seeing this has just fu*ked me off, hopefully the club are embarrassed about this being public and take steps to ameliorate the problem somehow - giving tickets a semblance of affordability would be a start.

Re: 6,000 Empty Seats a game
i bet that many of them are "official supporters clubs" and people won't pay the travel n hotel when we are not playing well.
i think Technology should solve this problem - a text, email or robocall asking you to confirm if youre NOT going to attend the game. Reply to get a 50% refund on your Ticket and sell it on TE at Half price.
if only 30% reply - thats 2,000 extra tickets a game.
Here in the US, my Patriots & Bruins tickets are downloaded n printed or i can use my iPhone.

The ticket exchange needs to work for all games, regardless of whether they have sold out or not. The current system is ok so long as the match is a sell-out but why can't someone who has a season ticket not sell it straight away once they know they can't go rather than having to wait until all the other seats have been sold? It makes no difference and the club makes the money from taking their cut.

There are times people who are non members ask me to get them tickets for a game and it turns out to be fucking torture. Then you arrive at the ground and there's hundreds/thousands of empty seats. Infuriating.

Prob more beneficial to the club the way it is. If d game isn't a sell out and a season ticket holder cannot go to a game his seat is left empty. The club still gets d money. A red or silver member who wishes to buy a ticket will purchase another seat. There for d club gets paid for 2 seats even though only 1 seat being used.

How times change.
When I went to matches every week in the late 70s and 80s clubs regularly understated the attendance. Many rumours (and some evidence) that Chairmen visited turnstiles and carried off bags of money.
I guess now it's about sponsors and prestige.

The club are counting what matters to them...how much money they made. That doesn't bother me,what does bother me is people buying tkts nit exchanging them, preferring to leave said seats empty. It's unfair but people with more money than sense tend to be w**kers.
I'd be very surprised if us and Manure are the only ones that do this. Let's face it the chavs still aren't that popular beyond Surrey and SW London.

If stupidly wealthy people are so frivolous with money that they have no qualms missing matches they paid for, fair enough (a fool and his money and all that), but the real injustice is those who are deprived of tickets that they'd actually utilize if only they were affordable/attainable.
Re: 6,000 Empty Seats a game
The club wouldn't want people selling £ 35 tickets on exchange whilst the ludicrously overpriced £ 60 ones are still unsold. That's why you have to wait for a sell out before you can exchange. The system is not for the benefit of the fans it's purely a way of making 10% more.

Re: 6,000 Empty Seats a game
those figures sound a little high
and this math doesn't make sense
"173,945 in total during 2013-14, or an average of 6,550 per game."
6,550 is 173,945 divided by 26.55
when was there 0.55 of match?

Reading the original A is for Arsenal piece the 173,945 total goes with 5,998 x 29 matches
and the CL playoff game was the worst attended, had we not been in it would brought av tickets sold but not used down to around 5,650
