Quoting it twice obviously made it more powerful. I live in the real world. He wanted to come back to us but he was never going to sign for Juve cos he didn't want to piss off gooners.

Exactly chippy - some guys are ironically moaning about others moaning ( ) but the reality is that we had a top class player that has proven himself in this country, wanting to rejoin us but was kicked into touch cos le cock wants to place his faith in ozil and cazorla  I don't for 1 second doubt ozil's quality but I do not think he will be a success at our club - players like ozil are luxury players who shine when the rest of the pieces are in place behind them, but Cesc is a player who will fight for the ball in those tough games and will inspire his team on and I cannot believe that we turned down the chance of re-signing him

If I am writing the opinions on Cesc correctly, we have two contrasting viewpoints here - (1) is that he is hated because he joined the chav scum and (2) that he is a gifted player that we should have bought back. Nowhere have I read anybody dismissing his quality so for me those who are dismissing him cos he joined chelski, are doing so as a defence mechanism to avoid facing the reality that we should have bought him back

As per usual posters on here ignoring the facts and using any excuse possible (even if they have to invent one) to have a pop at wenger.

I shall say it once only, "He never wanted to rejoin Arsenal".

He wanted to join a team capable of winning the league and CL, that is not us and even if cesc had wanted to come back we still would not win anything substantial with him in this current squad.

Chelsea will win the league by 7 points or more, they are the most complete team in the league.

“Yes, everyone knows that Arsenal had the first option to sign me. They decided not to take up this option and therefore it wasn't meant to be. I wish them well in the future."

José Mourinho makes pre-season jibe at Arsenal over Cesc Fábregas signing
• He never wanted to return to former club, says Chelsea coach
• ‘When I spoke to him, it was easy – he wanted to come to us’

Exactly, this doesn't sound like a comment from someone who apparently didn't want to join us. Mourinho is obviously going to say that Chelsea were always his first choice.

“Arsenal was the first option, for contractual reasons,” said Fàbregas. “There was a clause that gave them the right to decide. We spoke to Wenger and he said that the space was very well filled by Mesut Özil and it was hard to find a place for both of us in the team.”

If he didn't want to join us, even slightly, why would he have even spoken to us about it? As soon as Barca alerted us to his availability he would have said to us he wasn't interested straight away, Wenger wouldn't even have a chance to talk about Ozil and not having room for him.

Even as recently as last night after the game he said "It's something I would've never expected" when asked about playing in a Chelsea shirt.

I've no doubt that if Wenger wanted him, we would have got him.

Seriously, why would people believe anything that comes out of Mourinhos mouth?

He didn't want to come to us, he's used to being in a team that competes at all levels right to the end of the season and actually winning something, he knows that he would win nothing with us, get over it, he didn't want to come and Wenger has nothing to answer for in this instance.

If anything said by Wenger and Cesc regarding there being no space in the team etc etc etc it is just the pair of them trying to avoid fan backlash.

Anyhow we all know Cesc is a good player but it was against Burnley ffs, let's see of he can do that against City, L'pool, Us, even Crystal Palace.....if he does then good for him, if not then good for us.

Leftie are you seriously taking quotes from that wind-up merchant prick seriously? That's just basic Mourinho baiting, WUM 101. It's a load of crap, you can't rely solely on that and then accuse others of being selective in what they believe to suit their arguments.

Realistically where else was he going to go? United? Liverpool? I'm sure people would have loved him then. Bayern and Madrid weren't realistic options.

What I am proving is that like all the links to this story they are all bullshit, I have just countered other posters indicating links to stories that "we turned down cesc etc" with links that indicate otherwise.

But we all know he has ambition and couldn't wait to leave us, why would he come back, we aren't any better.

Fabregas himself acknowledged we didn't want him. If he was the one that pied us off you can bet that he would have been making sure everyone knew it, to ingratiate himselves with their fans.

I get the point that the vast majority of media reports are to some degree unfounded guesswork, but in this case you are putting a lot of stock behind an extremely transparent and unsuccessful attempt by Mourinho to wind people up, as always.

Don't get me wrong, I know moaninho couldn't lie straight in bed but I just can't believe cesc ever wanted to come back os therefore was not turned down by Wenger, if he was then that could turn out to be a mistake but I will look at his form come christmas before I make that judgement.

We could well be 7 points clear of them by that time (sounding like 1989 now :? )

Cesc left barca cos the fans had turned on him and that is undisputed I think - he has already won all the titles he can win so wouldn't he want to return to a placed where he is loved by the fans ? To the outside world this is not the same AFC that Cesc left a few seasons ago - many people are blinded by the two high profile signings as see us as an ambitious progressive club once again, so I'm sure Cesc would have joined us in a heartbeat if le cock wanted him back
