Is it just me or has 1989's unbridled optimism started to wane ?

With Giroud there's no optimism......just anger, frustration and despair.

Lucky, Lucky Arsenal - could & should have been 2 down just after half time. Their keeper did make a couple of unbelievable saves though. A draw was probably a fair result. If we can win at home we may convince Cavani to join us !!!???. :barscarf: :barscarf:

This match (farce) represents everything that's wrong with the club:

- Giroud is the worst starting striker in our history.

- We deploy players out of position: Cazorla is less than useless as a winger - offers no width, congests midfield, is slow and weak, and has very little end product.

- We play labored, insipid, tiki-taka sh*t football which yields no openings and accomplishes nothing besides lateral passes.

-Our 4-5-1 formation isn't suited to our personnel and isn't conducive to success.

- Our players with pace and directness who might actually pose a threat and spark us into life (Chamberlain, Campbell, Rosicky) remain chained to the bench so we can watch Wenger's grand vision - the art of possession and doing fu*k all with it.

- We haven't got a proper DM which means Arena plays.

Wenger still (even after 30+ years in the game) doesn't know you can actually make subs before the 65th minute.

- We have to play these CL qualifiers in the first place because 4th seems to be the extent of our clubs ambition.

Fu*k off.

Never saw them; from my lifetime Giroud is the most hapless striker.

Besides, this is the 3rd season he'll be our starting forward, I doubt we persisted with any of those aforementioned names for that long.

Nothing like Augie watching a limited amount of the game and Donaldo making ludicrous claims like Szczesny being our best player to give a balanced view. You don't really need to try that hard to find the negatives.

Positives, Scez, Kos, Chambers and in particular Debuchy who was excellent.
Negatives Giroud every bit as bad as Sanogo was on Saturday, he is shite. Carzola another missing in action away performance, Monreal a liability,
The rest, pretty poor performances from all of them, some worse than others.
Summary, We is fucked and have no chance of challenging for the title.

Christ we have some dullards on here.

That's it, we are total shit now! :barscarf:

Giroud is the worst striker ever! :barscarf:

Arteta is the worst DM ever! :barscarf:

Sanchez was a waste of money! :barscarf:

Ramsey is shit again! :barscarf:

Snap. The. Fuck. Out. Of. It. You. Tarts. :x

1989 - go get yourself checked out for Bi-Polar, mate.

It was one game. Away from home. Early in the season. On a pitch that resembled a field.

We were poor. They were poor. Our players aren't up to speed yet. No one's players really are. Not Citeh, not the chav$, not the Mousers. If you watched the games at the weekend you will have seen that. Teams get fitter and sharper with games. We will have great games this season and the likes of Santi, Giroud and Arteta and Wilshere and Monreal will look world class, and then we'll have games where they look absolutely shite, and games where they will look what they are; average.

Whining like bitches on the rag about players is all well and fine, but ultimately many of our players are trying to play out of position in a system that doesn't suit their talents or strengths. This is down to Arsene. Pod is not a winger. Santi is not a winger. Giroud is not a lone striker in a 4-5-1.

I think it was clockender that made a great point above about the lone striker role. Very few top strikers can play that position effectively, why does anyone think that an average striker like Giroud should be able to. I have nothing but respect for Giroud for trying to play it, showing for everything, and not whining in the press about it. The annoying thing is, as average as Giroud is, we could get so much more out of him if Arsene played 2 up front. Similarly, we'd get so much more out of Santi and Pod if they weren't out wide as wingers. Remember Arshavin? I know he was a lazy whiney fucker but ultimately Arsene ruined him by constantly playing him out of position.

Agreed Arteta's time is up. He was brilliant for two years but his legs are gone.

Also, could you fuckers stop using the term "ticka tacka"? That was what the BarcaWhores played in their pomp - fast accurate interchanging of passes. What we play is the static, leaden, inneffective slow version of it; Tippy tappy.

Anyfuck, positives? It's early yet but Sanchez looks good in that he will run at players (until Arsene "coaches" that out of him). Chambers looks good, had Ba in his pocket bar once or twice.

I am surprised your slating Monreal Sid, I thought he had quite a good game last night.
He didn't get forward as much as Debuchy but considering the lack of cover from Cazorla I thought he did pretty well.

Have to agree. I think Monreal is an absolute liability in most games but thought he did well last night.

to be honest I was very meh about that game last night - usually I am desperate for us to qualify for the C, but with Giroud and Sanogo as striking options then realistically what is the point?? those 2 would struggle at Europa League level
