Giroud scored 20, Adebayor and van Persie were getting 30.

That is the problem, stats only tell half the story.

Fancy us to scrape this, reckon he will play Chambers where Arteta plays with Flamini beside him for extra protection and hold Jack back for midweek.

If Chambers does well there kiss goodbye to any DM coming in.
dont think it will be Chambers, he will definatenly be rested (unless Per or Kos dont make it) - he may rest Jack but it will be Cazorla (who is awful out wide) or Rosicky coming in there.

Have to say though, very very impressed with Chambers - just hope England dont pick him anytime soon and ruin him!

Adebayor scored 30 in one season. Apart from that he scored 4, 12 & 16 in his other three seasons.
Van Persie scored 37 in his last season. Apart from that he scored 10, 11, 13, 9, 20, 10 & 22 in his other seasons.

In his first 2 seasons at Arsenal Giroud has scored 39 goals. That's 23 more than Adebayor and 18 more than Van Persie.

So that argument doesn't really stack up does it?

You can't even really argue that it is because he played more games than the other two. Based on strike rates Giroud has scored once every 2.51 games, Adebayor every 3.56 and RVP every 3.76 over that same period.

His having played more games than the others just shows that he maintains his fitness better than them too!

I think the problem is that too many people view our past players with rose tinted spetacles and that will always make your view of our current squad more negative.

But like you say, stats only tell half the story so maybe he is shite

I have to say I am not optimistic about this one.

Monreal got absolutely destroyed by Lukaku last season, I hope lessons have been learned.

Team:-

Sz, Debuchy, Monreal, BFG, Kos, Flamini, Ramsey, Wilshire, Cazorla, Sanchez, Giroud

I think Ozil will be on the bench.

2-0 Everton.

Your names not Wenger is it? You would happily leave Rosicky, Campbell and the Ox warming the bench, even though we need more pace and drive in the team and less of the tippy-tappy sideways crap! :banghead:

wilshere is the main problem in that midfield for me, coupled with the fact that there is no pace on the wings and a lampost up front that isn't clever enough to latch on to the decent balls provided to him, I don't see us scoring.

1-0 everton, giroud missing a host of chances and koscielny making a massive error are my two worries.

it wouldn't make a difference. strikers need service and support. Giroud gets neither.

Bollox mate. He gets world class service, he's just too shit to do anything with it. Did you see the exquisite ball Ramsey played into him and he failed to even connect with the ball with only the keeper to beat last night?

EDIT: Hear it is:

This donkey is our 1st choice striker. How fucking sad is that? Sort it out Wenger you bellend.

The BFG will start this game alongside chambers as le cocks rests kos because of his Achilles injury (accurate translation means that he will keep kos in reserve for the more important return game v besiktas

Flamoney will also start in place of arteta who hasn't recovered fully from last nights knock (accurate translation means that he wants to save arteta for the besiktas game)

Giroud ,will be turned to the bench cos he will be a leetle bit jaded as his fitness isn't there yet cos of World Cup (translation.....do I need to keep going ? )

For all you trying to say Giroud's goal scoring record is fine: he scored 22 goals in 51 appearances - that's all competitions - he only scored 16 league goals... That's atrocious when you're Arsenal's starting striker and have Ozil and co. behind you.

indeed. I thought we'd seen the end of people sticking up for his lack of awareness and terrible finishing but it beggars belief that someone pipes up again and comes out with empty waffle.

Traditionally we haven't really struggled too much at Everton, notwithstanding last season. As sluggish as we have been, they are hardly likely to put in the ruthless display that they did at the height of their form in April.

There's the positives. Martinez did give Wenger a good arse-holing there a few months ago and we haven't got going so far. Even with 4 days to prepare, Wenger's mind will definitely stray towards Wednesday.

Predicted us to win this at the start of the season but I was factoring in a better result and performance last night. I think 1-1.

Its not empty waffle though is it. Its fact that his return, even on those figures, remains better than Adebayor or RVP during his first two years.
I'm no rose tinter but FFS give the poor bastard a chance. I'm often as negative as the next person but some here appear to be negative just for the sake of it. They then have the nerve to say anything positive, even when factual, is waffle. there's no pleasing some

^ Giroud is 27 years old, the prime years for a striker; Van Persie and Adebayor were both in their early 20's and nascent football career wise.

22 goals in 51 appearances for Arsenal is anemic. ..No excuses. Besides, Giroud has never once scored a league goal against a top 5 side. Pathetic.
