arsenal.com turning to Fawlty Towers for inspiration

Post by Nos89 »

The constant referencing to our world cup winners returning to fitness just reminds me of the farcical episode of Fawlty Towers, The Germans...the Germans are coming....the Germans at training ground....the Germans finishing training...the Germans watching the Besiktas match....what next an Eva Braun Salad in the magazine as prepared by the chef??? Get a grip!!!!

I wouldnt mind but the 3 Arsenal players were hardly key members of the German team - Podolski only played 45 minutes in the whole of the World Cup, so why has he only recently come back to training??

You can't say Ozil wasn't a key player. Mertesacker was also present up to the knock outs at least. I suppose the Podolski thing was that he was still out there with the squad whether he played or not, he was injured initially. I guess he was still "working" and therefore entitled to the same time off as the others. I said a while ago that the players themselves can come back early from the break they are given but clearly Podolski didn't fancy it.

Ozil played every game of the WC and was only subbed in 1 game late on and played 120mins against Algeria so can see why he got a rest. Poldi probably hasn't been played as we now realize he's off somewhere else...stupid decision if you ask me.

The only one that should have come straight back in was BFG and he did play.

Think this thread is a little churlish. I had a quick look around, the Chavs did the same thing they only had one player as did all the German teams with players at the WC( Bayern and..eerrm that's it  )

You'd think based on the .com and the club's social media output that a salvaging a late 2-2 at Goodison was the greatest result in the history of world football.
