The Summer 2014 TRANSFER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

I'm afraid to say that I agree with you 100% on that second sentence - the 'don't forget we have 5 players who play there', 'everybody looks for the same positions', blah blah blah, tells me everything we need to know

If he doesn't sign a CB then he goes back on his word that he definitely would if Vermaelen was sold.

As for Carvalho - is that likely? Isn't he one of the most sought after talents around?
It's looking very likely as Sporting have apparently dropped their price and are asking for one of our youngsters on loan to complete the deal. We must sign him or there's no title challenge. Our lack of physical presence in midfield is fucking depressing.

I see there's less mention of Flamini these days in that regard. Has everyone realised that our 'legend' is just a one paced clogger who gets booked at the drop of a hat - surely not?

You are aware, for instance, that Wonga said that Anelka was staying at Arsenal and Fabregas was staying at Arsenal........the day before each of them were sold??

Wonga is a compulsive liar.
More that Wenger is not always keen to show our hand during the transfer window?

He also said we were not buying anyone during one window then the very next day we signed Reyes.

Is it not the case that W. Carvahlo is under 3rd party ownership??? like a great number of Portuguese players particularly their South American comrades with agents, long lost relatives, hangers on and various other parasites all coming out of the woodwork to get their pound if flesh, if so it is particularly gutting because he is the closest thing I've seen to PV4 since..... well, PV4 and it is widely known that AW will not touch a 3rd party player with a ten foot barge pole not only for the reasons above but for ethical reasons too!

I really hope that we don't get Welbeck.
He can't even score against MK Dons tonight

Wages were really high, Martinez taking a gamble with the average age of players he's buying Barry,Eto'o both well over 30, no wonder they were knackered when we got 2 goals back. :rubchin:

I'm starting to worry that Giroud has caught glass ankles from Abou.

A ball hits his foot and a break is suspected.

Towards the end of last season he went down two or three times a game writhing in pain and clutching his ankles. It doesn't look good.

I'm so worried I'd even take Remy.

Couldn't agree more mate. Flamini is the biggest fraud at the club.

John Cross reporting we've bid £15m for Welbeck :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: I fucking despair. Balotelli at £16m is no good for us but Welbeck for 15 is fine?! Have a read of RedCafe tonight, they can't wait to get rid of him. That's how much they rate him. They'll be pissing themselves if we buy him...
