Think we're getting Carvalho and some unknown CB and that would be our lot. Cavani and the likes are just a pipe dream. Wenger has had a change of mind on selling Podolski after Giroud's injury which tells you all you need about his (non) intentions of signing a striker.

I'm afraid to say that I agree with you 100% on that second sentence - the 'don't forget we have 5 players who play there', 'everybody looks for the same positions', blah blah blah, tells me everything we need to know

If he doesn't sign a CB then he goes back on his word that he definitely would if Vermaelen was sold.

As for Carvalho - is that likely? Isn't he one of the most sought after talents around?

It's looking very likely as Sporting have apparently dropped their price and are asking for one of our youngsters on loan to complete the deal. We must sign him or there's no title challenge. Our lack of physical presence in midfield is fucking depressing.

Is it not the case that W. Carvahlo is under 3rd party ownership??? like a great number of Portuguese players particularly their South American comrades with agents, long lost relatives, hangers on and various other parasites all coming out of the woodwork to get their pound if flesh, if so it is particularly gutting because he is the closest thing I've seen to PV4 since..... well, PV4 and it is widely known that AW will not touch a 3rd party player with a ten foot barge pole not only for the reasons above but for ethical reasons too!

Wages were really high, Martinez taking a gamble with the average age of players he's buying Barry,Eto'o both well over 30, no wonder they were knackered when we got 2 goals back.
