Please help my local football club

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Please help my local football club

Post by olgitgooner »

My local club are being shafted by the local council.

The council owns the ground they play on. Plus the training pitch. Plus surrounding land.

It is prime building land. They prefer houses to playing fields.

The club has been given six months notice to quit the land.

The football club has been around for 125 years. It will, effectively, cease to exist. No alternative land has been offered. It's all about money. Scummy council has no interest in football. Or any other sport.

Please visit www.bhtfc.co.uk.

Add your name to the petition. Every little helps.

This is about football v politicians. Please help.

Thanks all. Much appreciated.

Fabby, I'll keep you posted via this site.

There will be protests that perhaps you can attend. I fucking hate the scummy people in local government.

One of the arguments against the club, is that they sometimes keep the floodlights on for longer than the prescribed times. This only happens when cup games go to extra time. The council is saying that this upsets local residents. The ground was there before the houses were built. It's like buying a house close to a motorway. And then complaining about
road noise. The council then fines the club, which ends up causing rent arrears.

The local leisure centre is run by the council. It runs at a loss. Paid for by ratepayers. They hardly ever turn the floodlights off at the proper time. They ignore their own regulations. And they don't fine themselves for breach of rules.

This is all about money. Houses will be built over the pitch, the training ground, and the surrounding area. The council will move local junior teams into the ground for a year or so. This is a smoke screen, to make them look good.

They are corrupt bastards.
