i have a pal who goes to hale end to watch the kids and he was raving about this lad 3 years ago. said he was one to watch out for.

sounds like he could well be.

but note this - players wenger is really keen on NEVER go out on loan to english clubs. he wasn't planning to use ashley cole. the silvinho situation forced him to look at him. carlos vela is parked in spain for work permit reasons. not sure about fran merida. but i suspect wenger doesn't fancy merida and is looking to sell him to a spanish club.

but any player who wenger does not keep under his wing is sent out on loan to english clubs to enhance their sale value - so see if he hangs on to bendtner and djourou this summer... larsson and muamba have already gone. pennant, upson, bentley... you want any more examples?

Wenger does tend to hold on to the players he wants to keep and not send them on loan.

Cole was exception as you say.

I also think Djourou and Merida are exceptions.

Djourou regularly plays for reserves to keep him match fit, and I believe his loan to Birmingham was all about sharpening him up for when Toure went to ACN.

Merida just signed a long term deal..I think he wa loaned as he was too good for reserve standard but not good enough/physically built enough yet for Premiership, so they felt Spanish league was good place to continue learning.
