usual thread starter… for me, theo rarely plays well in the first half. I think he only comes into his own when the game is more stretched. Whether age will change that remains to be seen, but I can see him being a super sub for a good while yet. What did you make of his performance v Reading in the light of this?

because we have no winger and have put up with eboue all season it was great to see theo run at defences and the more he plays the more he will improve,, he played well against reading nothing spectacular but was prepared to make things happen,,
remember the guy in front of him for that place has 1 assist and no goals from the same position

I agree that Theo is now a more useful option than Eboue on th right wing, and deserves to start.
Hopefully he will develop into the fearsome striker that his attributes suggest he can be.

But I urge caution.

Theo is just 19, and has had a few small injuries so far.

If he is overplayed, these will disrupt his career like Michael Owen's and Robbie Fowler's, who played too much too young.

We should use Walcott in three quarters of games for the next two seasons.

The club as a policy under Wenger, trains under 21s with aerobic fitness and then adds weight bearing exercise for over 21s.
When he is 21, he will be able to begin serious strength and weights work which will help protect against injuries caused by overplaying.

These will give him some extra power and speed as a player too.

isnt this kinda what weve done with cesc,overplay him from a young age,it could affect his career later on

Fowler had problems off the field which affected his dedication on it. Owen is just prone to injuries.

We have put so much by our youth devlopment over the last 4 years at the expense of a more balanced transfer policy. If we now urge caution over giving the youth 90mins, what has the last 4 years been about?

My urge for Caution is based on solid medical reasons, rather than a timidity of using younger players.

And yes, I do worry about Cesc suffering physical related injuries from overplaying.

Yes, I would now rest Cesc - he looked shatttered weeks ago, though played well saturday - but as one of the founder members of the 'Give Theo a Chance' club when some suggested he be loaned out I'd love to see him start in the remaining games. Watch out though for the cloggers with nothing to lose - remember what happened to Diaby in 'injury' time?

I expect as you said Walcott to get a starting birth although I feel he will start on the right, with Adebayor and Bendtner up top. I think it may be something like this.
