thats probably about the going rate for an England Player - wallys agent wanted him 2 years ago, also at 23, to get 80,000 as an "England Regular" up from the 55,000 he was on.

cleverly was on 80,000, so makes sense they'd pay a goal scorer 100k.

Can't say I'm too excited about Welbeck, and I think it's criminal we haven't signed another CB (in spite of what Wenger said when Vermaelen left) or a proper midfield screen - however:

I will give him a chance before making a judgement as I sincerely hope he does well for us, and he's surely got to be a better option than the bloody postman.

really think we got a half decent player here and got players who know him from the England set up so should settle in quickly got to be an improvement that we got already 16 mill also pretty cheap in this day and age

it could be a massive banana skin for em.

tbh i would have looked at both kagawa and Chicharito too. ahead of welbeck, but we got a 23 yr old striker for 16million for 5 years.

I don't get the miquel move? Is Issac Hayden ready to step up if needed? Imagine chambers and Hayden at the back facing Sturbridge n balotelli...it could happen with our injury record.

Depending on what paper you read that dodgy knee *word censored* falco is on £280,000 to £360,00 a week.
how do you think shrek, van twat, dimario, matter etc are gonna feel about that.
big rift in the team to come methinks.
on welbeck hes young, can tap in from close range, and he's not shy of having a shot from more than 10 yards out.
so give him a chance.
anyone know the odds for the mancs not finishing in the top 4? :barscarf:

I'd have preferred Baliotelli ,and I didn't want him either .
But now it's done welcome to the Arsenal and start banging them in please ASAP !
He will go straight in so he will have 3 months or more to settle and claim a place which in this day and age is a good run.

I'm not gonna judge Welbeck too harshly as I feel he deserves a chance and if his finishing improves he could actually be a decent signing. He is surely better than Sanogoal and AW clearly has no faith in Poldi or Campbell. I would have preferred a proven goal scorer or a big target man though.

However what gets to me is what always gets to me. The gross neglect of improving where we actually need players. We have 6 defenders and we clearly need a holding midfielder. It is nothing short of a disgrace and Wenger has yet again let the fans down. He had 3 months (well 2 and a half if you include his numerous games of dodgeball in Brazil). He is on 7 million a year to go to Rome on deadline day to referee a charity match. I'm sick of it. If we spent what we are supposed to have had we could have easily been in a title race this year.

I was wondering about this too.
A friend of mine was in fits when Miquel was sold because he thought no one would come in to add to the centre backs.

Hayden has looked comfortable in midfield, not seen much of him in defence.
Can only think Wenger has faith in Hayden and perhaps Ajayi, because a loan move for Song would have been a possibility.

Do not get how wenger would leave us so bare at the back maybe move Bellerin as 2nd choice right back and Chambers 3rd choice CB ?

It just incompetence, even if Bellerin steps up we're still short in defender depth when I saw Miguel was going I thought a defender was coming in last minute.

Same here thought that would be the last thing he would do is get rid of another CB but Arsenal love balancing there books so nothing surprises me
