a 5 year deal is good business - thats 23-28 and two years possibly more beyond The Idiots tenure.

like i hoped Giroud and Pod would work out, we should support him 100% this season.

btw if all fit we have the largest ingerland contingent now - chambers, gibbs, wilshire,ox, wally, welbeck that we've had since 2000.

And that is supposed to reassure us ??

Another signing that screams "we are making do" rather than going out and buying real quality. Another signing got where we didn't have to work to make it happen - they had signed falcao and were happy to move him on, and wellshit himself forced the move to us through after that  Players who are on the "for sale" shelf or who have a price tag around their necks are always the one's that are available and they are always the players we sign and I'm sick of it - the only thing that is big about our club anymore is our fanbase cos this manager and board will never challenge for the big trophies again, but I'm sure looking forward to hearing all those c*nts signing "1 arsene w*nker" in the coming months    :censored: :censored: :cussing: :cussing:
Augie mate, you're going to give yourself a heart attack if you're not careful.

Just wait and see what Wellbeck does. You don't know he is going to fail any more than anyone knows he is going to succeed. He isn't a marquee signing by any means but he is a current international and things could have been much worse.

just calm yourself down or you'll be on the RIP thread!

Think thats more because he has been at United since he was 8 and is a local boy.

I'm not completely thrilled about this signing but we have to give him a chance, he's here for 5 years and his best years, so it may well turn out good.
With Sanogo, we shouldn't slate the kid, he was been chucked in to an Arsenal team v Bayern last season, because the manager didn't have anyone else to put in. Same again at the start of this season, beacuse Giroud wasn't fit and then injured. Don't blame Sanogo, ( he may turn out to be ok in time) blame the Frenchman. Its his fault we were in that position, which for a club like Arsenal, is really fucking shocking.

Pretty good signing this, a player with really his best years ahead of him. Experienced and versatile. We had the WOW signing with Sanchez this summer, so I never expected someone else of that calibre to come in, but certainly Wellbeck gives us an option up front and has a helluva lot more pace than a few of the others up there. Also at his age, if it doesn't work, Arsenal can sell him on, which as we know, is a big thing for us!!

United fans seem a bit annoyed at this as well, which is nice.

My feelings are still the same. I don't think he is good enough at all and I am still miffed he will be turning out for the Arsenal.

However, now he is a Gooner I will support him, cheer him on and hope he does well and gives his all for the Arsenal and despite everything, he is still a lot better than Sanogo.

Make me eat my words, Danny.

Honestly Spuddy, I don't think that I have ever been more chilled out after a shite transfer window - way back when we signed sanchez I argued that he was a false dawn signing (a la ozil) and I also stated that it didn't matter who we signed as long as le cock remains in charge of "tactics" and as long as we don't have a proper DM, and that has proven to be the case

Re wellshit, we all know that he is better than le postman and he is probably on the same level as giroud, but is that really good enough ? Do you think that if he was the answer to our prayers, that manure would have sold him to us ? Is he honestly worth £16m now (as opposed to what he might be in 5 years time) ? Do we believe that le cock will play him centrally when giroud returns ? Will he fcuk and he bought wellshit because he knows he can shaft him out wide when giroud returns

If we look at this clearly I think that this signing was done to protect giroud as much as anything else - I haven't worked in football for 30 years, but I am guessing that players you sign are meant to be an upgrade on what you already have and I don't believe that this is the case here (at least not yet anyway). Is his loyalty to giroud a decision based on French loyalty ? We often hear him say about how le cock doesn't want to "kill" the potential of his existing signing but am guessing that doesn't apply to wally - he didn't think twice about buying a world class player (sanchez) that plays in wally's position despite the fact that it will relegate wally from the first 11, but yet he doesn't want to buy one of the available upgrades that would have relegated giroud from the starting 11, and I am saying that as a non wally fan. Wellshit will def bring some much needed pace to the central striker position (until he moves wide when giroud returns) but has he proven to be a clinically striker ? I don't believe that is the case at all.

I didn't expect le cock to make a significant striker signing so wasn't surprised on this matter really - what I was surprised about though, was the lack of a defensive signing  The c*nt himself said that he would certainly buy a centre back if/when tv5 left, but yet he refused to do so and I am at a loss to understand why :? He was exceptionally lucky last season that giroud didn't pick up and injury (which would have left him fcuked with no back up striker) but I will bet my life that he wont be as lucky this season with his defence. There is no excuse for his lack of a purchase in this area and in any other club, under any half decent board and owner, such stupidity would result in a p45 but then again any board that allows him to fcuk off to some charity gig in rome yesterday, hasn't a Scooby doo either

Someone posted this on the Guardian blog:

I think a good signing. Dig deeper behind the "20 goals in 90 starts" and you will find; 9 goals in 15 starts last season - 6 of which in 6 games where he played centrally rather that on the wing; converted 31% of his chances last season. Compared to 30% for Sturridge, 27% for RvP and 26% for Aguero; had the second best clear cut chance percentage last season at 70% illustrating his clinical finishing. Utd played him out of position. Wenger will play him central. With Arsenals wealth of creative talent (Alexis, Ozil, Santi, Ramsey and Wilshire recently showing he still got it) the assists will come in thick and plenty.
As Liverpool did for Sturridge post Chelsea, as Arsenal will do for Welbeck post Utd.

16m not so bad at all, perhaps? Fingers crossed.

they miss him so give the guy a chance.
They're a bit deluded over at RedCafe when it comes to Welbeck.

BUT he is a good player, that's for sure. He needs to play week in, week out. He won't bring lots of goals but his all-round play is good and for £16 mill you've got a good deal.

Am I sad to see him go? Well, he's a Manchester lad and was at the club since he was 8. So my heart says yes, but he wasn't good enough for United and I don't think he's good enough for Arsenal either.

Good luck though Danny, hope he brings you guys happiness and success :)
That's because you shunted him out wide. He'll get to play upfront for us and with the creativity around him he'll bang them in for fun.

Btw, do you think it's a worrying sign that your club is now willing to sell a talented young England international who came through your youth ranks to a rival club? Certainly Fergie would never have sold him to us.
I think it's more likely that Wenger will play Welbeck out wide and persist with Sanogoals in the centre. Because he knows. :|
This. Only the mods (and SteveO) understand the genius of the manager's mind. Sanogo is the next Thierry Henry. 8)

you once bought a striker who was being deployed on the left and wasn't anything special. He was given a chance up front at Arsenal and became one of the most feared strikers in the world.

I'm not saying that Welbeck will do this but given the chance to play where he is supposed to play, where he is most comfortable and has the most confidence and he could shine.

Either way, I think he willl score more and give the team more than that bag of overated *****, Balotelli who cost the same price.

Rene Meulensteen, the former right hand man to Sir Rednosedcunt has stated that he thinks Wellbeck is a perfect match for Arsenal.

The only thing is does he mean that he will be the perfect fit in the team to improve us........... or does he mean that one also ran is heading to another?????

Meulensteen is quite an astute guy and I think his comments are genuine. If he thinks Wellbeck will compliment us and thrive in our team then I guess we should all give him the chance to. He does know him much better than ay of us do. Let's not get on his back if he hasn't scored a dozen or so goals by Christmas. Remember how long it took DB10 and TH14 to get going before they became the legends they are.

I don't think Wellbeck is capable of hitting those heights but I do think he could be a decent striker for us. I think he'll get better service here than he would have at Manure. Let's just hope that he doesn't start passing when he has a shooting opportunity like the rest of our team tend to do.

I think it's unfair to judge Welbeck's time at United, because he was 3rd in the pecking order behind RVP, and Rooney, and no matter what he did, he would never have dislodged those two, so that cant be great for his confidence. Im not suggesting that he will turn out to be a world class signing, but I think he is will be decent for the club. If he grabs 10 league goals between now and the end of the season, I will be happy enough, especially when Giroud got 15 League goals last season, and he was in his second season at the club.

There's absolutely 0 reason why he shouldn't play up front. So that means AW will deploy him wide.

He wouldn't have come here without the assurances of playing upfront. That's the whole bloody point of him leaving his boyhood club.
