As good as he is there has to come a point where you say you've got enough small attacking midfielder/winger's.

We have 6 defenders at our entire club ffs

I thought I'd wait until the Great Transfer Fiasco was over for another summer to comment on it. Most of it has been gone over a million times, the striker and DM situation is frustrating of course, but the CB situation is another level of insanity altogether.

I commented a few weeks ago on what I thought was Wenger's greatest fuck up so far. Not replacing van Judas is up there, as is passing up on Cesc and allowing him to sign for Maureen's mob, but I also said that were he to fail to strengthen at the back after selling Vermaelen then this would ultimately prove to be his worst case of negligence yet. Not much surprises me with him anymore but sadly this does. I thought we were under strength in the CB position last season when we had just Vermaelen as cover. I'll never understand why we sell a player BEFORE we sign a replacement. Judging by his comments when we left, thanking the fans and saying how he'd enjoyed his time at the club, I don't think he would have objected had we said 'listen mate we still need you as cover would you mind staying on one more season?' If his contract was up at the end of the season then so be it, let him leave on a free.

At 5ft 11" I don't think that we could class him as small surely ? Anyway he isn't a midfielder and would actually be perfect for us instead of wellshit - he has pace, intelligence, vision and is clinical in front of goal and boy do I wish we had of signed him

100% agree with you re the shortage of defenders - it is one of the few issues that all Gooners agree on

If Giroud hadn't got injured we would not have signed anyone. As soon as Falcao moved to Utd, Wenger did his usual last-minute bid for an unwanted player.

Never, ever in for Reus.
not only that but I really think Podolski would've been shipped out to either Turkey or Germany as well.

compare and contrast how Man City and Chel$ki have done their business early and with a plan. And we have panic buys to try and appease the fans.

we actually needed to file an extension with the League to get Wellbeck done. Maybe some of that had to do with Falcao having his medical late but still.

Are they implying that our manager is a dithering old fool who had no idea what he was at up until the transfer window closed ?, surely not, I'd best read that article again just to be sure.

A few all too predictable quotes from arseblog this moring -

We signed a genuine superstar in Alexis SanchezIn other words it was a name signing and not a need signing which is something I have long since argued re sanchez and ozil

We signed another striker who, although he wouldn’t exactly have been first choice even a week or two ago, looks more and more like a very decent signing under the circumstances
Under what circumstances exactly ? :? Is it because we start looking for one with just 5 hours left in the window ? He wasnt good enough previously but now he is ?? :?

Midfield remains a bone of contention with doubts about Arteta and Flamini but I wonder how much those doubts are exacerbated by the desire for a new player
We need a new player cos they aint good enough - I like arteta and wont slate him like many do, but the reality is that we need a quality DM so dont try and disguise the fact by suggesting that it is personal dislike of arteta and flamoney

People ask how are we to expect to avoid the thrashings away from home with Arteta or Flamini, as if somehow they were the chief culprits in those particular downfalls. Firstly, the failure on those days was collective: the manager and team together have to take the blame together. Secondly, there’s the slight possibility that having experienced those defeats last season (the only season in which I can ever remember those kind of results occurring with that regularity), there’s no reason why we can’t learn from them so as to avoid them again
We didnt learn the lessons between the first game and the second game. We didnt learn the lessons between the second game and the third game. Now, by some miracle we are to believe that we have learned the lesson after the 3rd game ?? He makes that statement despite the fact that our formation and tactics are the very same as last year

we’re well stocked with players who, let’s remember, won the FA Cup last season and finished just 7 points off the title after topping the table for large chunks of the campaign
That same team that needed penalties to beat a championship side who werent good enough to get promoted. Thats the same Arsenal side that needed extra time to actually win the final. Of course it's also the team that were top of the league for the longest amount of days last season - yes I know that we ended up scraping 4th place but we'll ignore that fact ok ?

We've struggled through the opening weeks of the season, as I thought we might. We've played 5 games to everybody's three. We've had three away trips in a row and know that our pre-season preparations have been disrupted for various reasons
Ah of course, we are a month into the season and already we are fcuked from playing those extra two games  And of course we are the only team who had players at the world cup and had our preparations cut short

Really and truly I cannot understand how some fans can argue clap trap like that

Augie, you've previously said that all signings should be better players than what we already have. Do you honestly now think that the players we've signed are worse that what we already had? I'm talking about the players we actually got and not those that should or could have signed.

You could also argue that having had 5 games together there should be some kind of cohesion and not the disjointed and ramshackle look that appear in vogue at the moment.

Kiwomya, I feel that ospina SHOULD be better than flaps but that depends on how he adapts and more importantly how many games he gets.
I'm a sagna fan as many of you know, so I don't think that debouchy is an upgrade - fcuk it I'll be generous and say that and same that they on the same level
Chambers MIGHT be an upgrade when he gains more experience - at the mo he seems an exceptionally promising youngster but he is still inexperienced, so to gain that experience he is gonna have to play big games and we need to accept that he will make mistakes whilst still learning. We (and I include myself here) are falling over ourselves to praise the kid but it is unfair for us to expect too much from him at this stage, and it is ridiculously unfair by le cock to expect him to carry the burden of being 1st choice back up and right back and centre back.
I'm not a wally fan so I will say that sanchez is a huge upgrade there - the problem with this signing is that we will not get the best of sanchez (nor indeed ozil) as long as the system remains as is. What will then happen is that the fans will get frustrated that two world class players are not turning in star performances and that will only increase the frustration of those players who are being marginalised by his system.
Wellback is a like for like with giroud - of course they bring different skills to the table but I believe that overall they are at the same level. People are blindly talking up wellbeck on the basis of he being better than le postman, but they should be comparing him to giroud cos he is the number 1 choice. For what it is worth, I am expecting wellbeck to be play wide when giroud returns from injury so he will be another frustrated about his position on the team

Also based on DailyFail we can get Ronaldinho for free... :barscarf:
