THE WENGER THREAD

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Back on thread - Agree 100% time for change. And anyone who still says we play attractive, exciting football needs the head examined. Very formulaic, predictable and one-paced. :(

A short memory?! That was over 12 years ago FFS! It was obviously a huge achievement, but what relevancy does that have in 2014? How is Wiltord's winner that sealed the title in 2002 going to help us progress as a club today, in 2014?

When people were slating AW in 2008, I could understand the 'look what he's done for the club' argument. We'd set the all-time unbeaten record in 2004, won the FA Cup in 2005, and reached the CL Final in 2006. All of those achievements were in recent memory.

Talking about 2002 even then would have been a stretch - but now, it's laughable.

When you pick out a single line then you're really struggling to find anything to bitch about. That was one of the many things I highlighted.
Nobody is saying a winning goal of 12 years ago is going to affect anything this coming year. You know full well that it was an example of one of many achievements that whilst they cannot affect the future as we see it today should not be forgotten.

Mmmm. You bitch and whine when you bemoan posters going off topic and complain that this is a forum about football for DEBATE, yet fundamentally negating any subsequent debate by stating any poster that DISAGREES with you is mental   :?

I know Irony is not understood by many people but you do get it, don't you :rubchin:

I hope people aren't peeved by my constant mentioning of Natalie Sawyer (100% FOR) in every thread including this Wenger (100% AGAINST) one.

How about you come up with some fresh jokes then, pal, instead of moaning your tips off.

There's also the option of not reading the jokes that bore you.

That is my opinion. I don't see how it negates further debate. If anyone can justify the attractive, exciting argument then let's hear their opinion.

Bang on. Sick of Wenger sympathisers banging on about the beautiful football, speak the same lies enough you start to believe them yourself!

The majority of the games these days follow the same pattern, the same short comings the same players being played out of position, the same players holding onto their place no matter how shit they play week in week out. Form has nothing to do with selection.

I could accept winning nothing during the barren years initially beacause the football was a joy to watch and the style of play would have me buzzing more often than not. But that is a thing of the past and 9 times out of 10 I find myself frustrated watching us.

All good things come to an end and Wenger is finished. I've come to the conclusion that the players at Arsenal are almost an irrelevance now. The question I ask myself when the AKB's bang on about budgets, ffp et al is would Wenger win the title if he managed any of the other top teams with their players and I genuinely feel the answer to that is a big fuck off NO!
