As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Don't know if he comes across better in print because, needless to say, I don't buy The Telegraph.
Although I despise the Daily Mail my favourite Sports writer (long before he went there) is Martin Samuels. Even though I don't always agree with his point of view, he generally writes and analyses Sport, and also the politics surrounding it, very well.
Martin Samuels is the usual up his own back side journalist.
Like all off them he is agenda driven. He disagrees with seeding system in the champions league but no problem with the farce that is a champions league with few champions.
I mentioned the ridiculousness Of the Chavs and Inter Milan's loan system with both having loaned out upwards of 60 players in 2 seasons most by chavs to stop anyone getting their hands on a player. Yet the silence from him is deafening.
He doesn't seem to have a problem with a tax payer funded arena being just handed over the West Ham..... Can't think why. He is no different. Journalists like David Lacey, Richard Williams. And Charles....forgotten his surname, former columnist on the Indy. They are probably the last few that didn't write with an agenda and a self righteous self importance that makes you want to puke.
Did anyone else see the coverage after the Dortmund game? Souness and Merson ripped us to pieces.
Souness made a big point about the two Arsenals - the team which looks like worldbeaters rolling over teams at home, and the one that has no hope and gets embarrassed in games like these. He was absolutely ruthless.
I think Merson was trying to make a similar point but he struggles to string together coherent sentences.

I disliked Souness when he was our opponent (partly because he was a formidable foe, partly because I think he went OTT on occasion) but I think he is one of the best pundits.
He is articulate and makes interesting points.
He calls it as he sees it, and I think he has a particular interest in Arsenal because he has stated that when we play well then we are great to watch, (and also I think and because there is plenty to discuss about us.)
I agreed with what he said, that we had too many similar midfielders at the expense of defenders, and that we do not organise well enough.
Merson has improved; he is not naturally articulate but he is better than he was and does not sugarcoat things.

That last sentence, living proof once again that the drugs don't work, they just make you worse.

Problem I have with modern punditry is they tell you what you already know. With all due respect to Souness, even the most optimistic Akb on this forum knows that. Neville even though he flat refuses to criticise English players even when they are playing poorly for their club tends to analyse things that you've missed. Sometimes it's scarily accurate. Who didn't think his description of David Luiz was the most accurate way to describe him.
I largely agree with what you're saying TG but the reality is nobody really puts the boot into the club. They'll enjoy it when we're down etc but Sounneas was ruthless and spot on. If most pundits were lack that things would be a lot different at the club....
Carragher is saying exactly what many of us have said on here for years. As with us, he can't believe that whether its Dortmund or Derby, Barcelona or Burnley.....we turn up with the shape and same 'game plan' (loose description). When we go 3-0 up we keep playing the same way, when we go 3-0 down we keep playing the same way.
He also said that everyone knows how to play against Arsenal - all the top coaches have us well and truly sussed out. Mourinho worked it out early on, Ferguson in the post Invincibles era had us sussed and I suspect every top coach in Europe has too.

On occaision????? he was ruthless, without being reckless. I like what he says about Arsenal as he is not coming from a bias, vindictive former club stance. I've seen him praise us to the hilt when we roll teams over without picking out a negative like the rest of them do. Has anyone heard or seen Wenger as a pundit? What's he like? I thought with his myopic problem he'd be a bit shit as a pundit.

Lets be honest,Souness only says what most of us are thinking on here,I think he hits the nail on the head 99% of the time,in fact I don't think I've seen him get anything wrong about the current Arsenal issues.Merson for me is a fucking legend so I don't care what the fuck the mad bastard says!!

It doesn't even take a top coach. Even Fat Fuck Allerdyce had us well and truly sussed when he was at Bolton.

Back when Stelios Giannakopoulos was the bane of Arsenal.
How that name put fear into the hearts of.... well, commentators mostly.
Is it just me that thinks Giannakopoulos sounds like the latin/scientific name for a creampie? Or maybe a hitherto undiscovered species of lesbian dinosaur?

No? Just me then. As you were.
Didn't want to jump straight in to your slop puddle there, but yeah that's two of us...
