Scum at home

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

why? surely you jest!

we're just as successful as Wigan and Portsmouth over the last 9 years, forget the highest ticket prices and top 10 richest club in the world.
forget about Juve and Bayern building new stadia as well.

F$ck Wenger!

Comparing us to Wigan and Portsmouth is a little silly and is not what I meant. But I concur with your last statement

Two points thrown away today. This was a very weak scum side & we couldn't beat them. Mind you their 'frenchman' with the gloves on saved them on a couple occasions. 80% of possession & we couldn't create many clear cut chances. I would love to see one of our tip tap tiny midfielders be a bit greedier sometimes & go at the defence with pace & create the loose player that way. Loved the Welbeck 'dummy' to set up Ox !!!. I hate to say it but the Ramsey injury may be a blessing in disguise as he is not performing like last year. Sanchez looked OK when he came on. As far as Wenger goes I agree he should have acquired a DFM & CB cover but I don't blame him for players in the team not puttin' in a shift. Yeah OK he can drag them but that's hard when players are already injured & have been subbed. In today's game it was two of the weaker players that got injured anyway. We'll play a lot worse than this & win games. Maybe CL this week. :barscarf: :barscarf:

What y'all moaning about? Were unbeaten and sitting comfortably in 4th spot, our natural position that Wonga never fails to secure for us. That's as good as a trophy remember.

Well that was worth chucking a proper cup in the bin for wasn't it ?

Is that the rip roaring reaction he was after from the 'rested' players?

An absolutely insipid 90 minutes of slow paced, Ingerlund style sideways passing against a team who made it clear inside the first 30 minutes that they were shitting themselves and barely bothered to offer a threat. The atmosphere at the start of the game was cracking too, so none of this fucking library shit can be levelled at the fans either

The most boring NLD I can remember in a long while and most fellow Gooners I spoke to on the way out and in the pubs afterwards agreed. Worst Spurs side in a decade, low on confidence and we basically said "you just sit there and we'll let you get comfortable"

Still, we've got the oh so important thrill a minute Group stage game against Galatasaray to look forward to now. Zzzzzzzzzz

At what level would you accept that people do know something of the game to give either positive or negative comments? How do you know they are not at your accepted level? :blah: :blah: :blah: :blah:

With every week that passes it becomes more and more obvious why Dad's Army Milan allowed Flamoney to leave for nothing. If Arteta or Jack had lost the ball like that for the Scummers goal we wouldn't hear the end of it, but old statue man seems to still be widely accepted. Why, god only knows, because all I see is a headless chicken running round like a French Robbie Savage. No amount of chest thumping or clapping can disguise what for me is a player woefully off the pace in the top games and without a brain in his head

I have to say I really rate Oxlade-Chamberlain. Bizzarely, with the trend of the media wildly overrating any young English players they are pretty lukewarm in their praise for Chamberlain. Which is strange because for me he's probably the best of the lot.

Pace, power, workrate, directness, can skip past 3 or 4 men, happy beating men either side and two good feet. One of the biggest positives is that he still shows all of his traits after 80 minutes on the pitch which barely any of our players can say they do.

What worries me is that he will spend the next 2 or 3 seasons drifting in and out of the team, getting the odd game in different positions, showing real ability then finding himself on the bench for the next 2 games.

Exactly, and he shows the wally lovers exactly why he(wally) is over-rated - no he cant sprint like road runner on steroids, but he has more to his game than wally and can genuinely dribble past opposition players as opposed to just kicking it past them and running by them

Agree with this 100% - the lad makes things happen almost every time he plays. More importantly he is one of the few, possibly only, midfielder we've got capable of playing the wide role in this boring 4-5-1 formation. He's just the player we need covering Gibbs or Chambers at the Bridge next weekend.....which is precisely why we'll find There's Only One sticking him on the bench and wondering why the Chavs keep overlapping Gibbs whilst Ozil lazily stands by watching the onslaught (and Cazorla doing the same on the other side)

The Ox will be brought on when we're 3-0 down and probably provide the 20 most entertaining minutes of the match

Our sooooooooo sloooooooow play is painful to watch.

We gave them so much time to get organised at the back that we made Kaboul look like Bobby Moore. Any team that is allowed to get ten men in and around the box will cause us problems. If we don't get the first goal early on we run out of ideas.

Apart from the City game and a 20 minute spell against Villa it seems to have been that way in all of our games too. Palace at home, Leicester away, yesterday, Besiktas x 2 and Dortmund (didn't see the Everton game so can't comment)....I've been amazed at the lack of energy in the performances. Yesterday and Leicester games in particular, it was almost as if the game was being played in slow motion

A few years ago, win lose or draw it was very rare that I would say I hadn't been entertained watching us, and in the early days the speed of our play was a joy to behold. Now, watching us do our impression of a poor man's Barca / Spain is so incredibly tedious, there are spells when I could actually fall asleep

^ Agree. This is by far the most labored, insipid, and uninspiring brand of football a Wenger team has ever produced. We might not have won anything for many years but our teams were never boring - this one certainly is (at times, watching us this season has felt like a chore).
