Danny Welbeck Signs (dont moan)

So we're left with a genuine world class list that contains Maradonna, Pele, Zidane, Best and Bergkamp. :barscarf: :barscarf:
Not to create a chasm, but Bergkamp was often found wanting in the big games too - I'd say Henry generally made more of an impact against the top sides than Dennis.

I Hate Hleb wrote:For fuck sakes - No-one has said he is as good as Henry was!! :banghead: :banghead:  However surely people can see the comparisons in the pace and the style of finish? :? He's only played a few games for us and for me has done a good job and is looking like a fantastic signing, so can't we for once just give a guy a bit of credit for playing very well and showing a lot of promising signs for the present and future rather than rehashing missed chances? :banghead:

By the way, if the criteria is doing it in the 'big games' and against the 'best opposition' than some would argue Henry's failure to score (or indeed play well) in any of the numerous finals he played for us would affect how he good he should be considered.

(Fuck, now you've gone and made me have an inadvertent dig at one of our greatest ever players. :banghead: *word censored*!! )
It's a silly point anyway. Welbeck has scored vs us, Chelsea, City, Real Madrid and winning goals in the Euro's so he has nothing to prove in that regard. Suárez failed to score against any of the top 4 last season and no one could hold that against him.

Bendtner got a CL hat-trick and he was shite.I will judge Welbeck against the big teams. Not the shite we played tonight
Pennant scored a hat-trick for us too and Baptista got four (as did the fat lazy Russian)

Nice finishes and nice performance......chuffed for him. But one goal from one chance on Sunday will mean more to me than last night's hat-trick. Galatasaray were fucking woeful at the back - if he notches against Captain Chav and his pals where so many of our previous flat track bullies have failed, it will prove that he really is capable of doing it against the best

It's a shame Theo's not fit, because Terry and Cahill aren't great against pace and movement and Dannyboy, Alexis and Theo have it in spades. However, if the nutty profesor plays the Ox wide and not Santi or Ozil we still might pose a threat.
We'll need to.

He loves scoring against Chelsea as well, I believe he's done it 6 times - including his very first Arsenal goal.

But Augie has analysed all six of those goals and they were all lucky and down to bad defending :D

Damn you 123!
Vid makes me so happy and yet a little sad. Was priveledged enough to see TH14's first and last ever goals for us.

Will I be proud to say the same bout Giroud, Sanogo.......?

No, because Sanogo will never have a first! (competitive goal, anyway)

C'mon Danny, another hat-trick today would be awesome.

Ok, I'm showing immense optimism :) :barscarf:

Exactly what I expected today - as with the other big games against the Scummers and Dortmund looked ok in patches but never a serious threat

Costa showed in one moment why his transfer fee was worth double - one moment in a big match, take it, game over

The thing is Steveo Welbeck was never given the ball today in the same area that costa was for his goal,Welbeck needs slide rule passes splitting open the defence for him to run onto or a ball over the top for him to chase, all this pedestrian tippy tappy bollox doesn't help him one bit,he isn't going to score with a brick wall of chavski players ahead of him when he gets the ball all caused by the fact that the build up is so slow and predictable that they've pulled everybody back behind the ball, its Wenkers fault not Dannys,we thrive on high tempo football not pedestrian sideways shit

Generally agree, but if you looked at the two victories we've had at Stamford Bridge in recent memory have been van Judas managing to create half a yard of space out of nowhere and ruthlessly taking 5 chances.
