Galatasaray (H)

As we're unlikely to see terraces again at football, this is the virtual equivalent where you can chat to your hearts content about all football matters and, obviously, Arsenal in particular. This forum encourages all Gooners to visit and contribute so please keep it respectful, clean and topical.

Fine for "poor organisation" as I expected.
in the old days if you played up the coppers would accidentally leave a gate open and look the other way.

with our CCTV how did those fans setting flares off and breaking seats NOT get arrested - smh

Much harder to identify and arrest away fans, especially when you have a group of supporters prepared to stick up for each other and not allow cops into your block to pull fans out and arrest em.

What can they do when they see em on CCTV? It's a fan they've never seen before and will never see again, probably not even from this country. There are no names tied to the seat details. Much easier for away fans to play up and get away with it when abroad, would be the same for English fans if they had the pack mentality too...

nah, with Englands support they round you all up, put you in a shed without water or a bog and check the faces to CCTV print outs, arrest those that match then bus the rest out to the game if you're lucky, to the ferry or airport if you're not.

see England in Spain 1982, Germany 1988, 1993 Amsterdam, 2000 Charleroi, etc and Chelsea in Bruge & Denmark, Leeds in Istanbul (ironicallly)....

but that may just be us because our government thinks we're scum too. :censored:

I'm not kidding when I say this but maybe the approach of the Irish cops is what is needed for incidents like this - a few years back English fans rioted in landsdowne road after 20 minutes and got the game abandoned. The irish cops kept the English fans in the trouble area back until the rest of the ground had all but emptied and then, when the tv cameras were no longer watching, the cops waded in and gave them a bloody good hiding  Our club could keep them in whilst cctv is being scrutinised to identify the main instigators of the trouble, and then when they are identified they can release the rest and arrest the c.unts 8) If some of their compatriots decide to get involved sticking up for their own, then they should get a few good slaps of the batons to send them a message that their bullshit will not be tolerated - people say that you cant do that anymore, but I will bet my life that if English fans behave that way in Italy, the local cops would give them "a good seeing to".
These troublesome c.unts should be arrested and brought to court the following morning and then get fcuked out of the country with a banning order preventing them from ever returning

No, I also thought he was perhaps our least impressive player
Just seemed reluctant to get involved, after a couple of short passes he would drift off to the side and put a couple of Gats between himself and the action. We watched him closely for about 10mins and he seemed like Arshavin in disguise. I don't expect him to be covering but he should be creating & with 10 men you'd think his mileage would increase

They were filmed by stewards all the time and kettled at the end so I guess they were picked off by the cops as they exited.
One thing still anoys me was them pointing out my mate sat there in his Fenerbache shirt leading to 6 stewards wading in to eject him for upsetting them.

5 cops did go in and stayed to the end, but only when the club level started getting drinks chucked at them.

"Away" colours are officially banned in Box Level, but not sure if that extends to Cub Level too?
But a Fenerbahce shirt at an Arsenal vs Galatasary fixture is not an away colour is it?

Why couldn't the stewards just have a quiet word and ask your friend to put a jacket over the shirt if it really was such a problem (which it wasn't, as the Galatasary fans were causing trouble regardless)?
What has happened to a commonsense approach?

Yes it does, well sort of covering it- but agree heavy handed to eject FFS.
Dress code: No sports shorts,
sleeveless tops/vests are allowed
in Club Level. Please be advised that away colours
are not permitted within Club Level.
Not sure that a Fennerbahce shirt would be the wisest shirt to wear TBH, especially above away fans. Gala fans have a very long history, which is well known I would have thought.

In fairness what kind of prat wears a football shirt to a match when tht team arent even playing.I've no sympathy for him.

It would be like going to shite Hart lane to watch spurs play Chelsea while wearing an arsenal shirt.

Im sorry but comon sense is to not wear a Fenerbache shirt to this fixture. Club did the right thing, for his own safety above anything else.

Surprised that he got chucked out for wearing a shirt of the visiting team's biggest rivals, clearly done only with the intention of winding up Gala fans? :? Got what he deserved imo.

The Fenerbahce fella is lucky he didn't get a hiding to be fair. Don't think many Gooners would have jumped in to save a dude in a Fenerbahce top either. Maybe ejecting him was the right thing, considering they'd clearly seen him.

Wearing your team's shirt to a neutral match is a bit sad tbh. Not to mention disrespectful to both teams. When I go to Brisbane Road I don't wear Arsenal clothing (I don't own any Arsenal shirts 8) ) for that very reason. It pissed me off when the Brazilians wore Brazil shirts and even sang Brazil songs at neutral matches at the WC
