I am from Slough. Pronounced Slaaaah. I'm obviously a bit older but the other team was Brentford. Are you the bloke who mentions the bees? However I don't remember this love in. Chavs were basically nasty bastards.clockender1 wrote:i was going to say Surrey...RespectTheUmlaut wrote:Where are you from, mate? I just don't understand how anyone could look on the chav as more of a rival than the vermin. We have no real history with the chav (indeed they have no history period!) as they are the new money, whereas we have a long bitter history with the vermin. Maybe it's a younger generation thing that have grown up watching the chav'$ (pimped) success? Is it now more relevant to this generation than just beating the vermin twice a year and finishing above them which was the be-all for my generation? Am I right in that or a SPUDMASHER'S waistline (million miles) away?Gunner Rob wrote:I'm actually really pumped for this one - can't wait.
I have been particularly negative all season but I just think it could be a close game on Sunday.
still expect the team to probably lose but it certainly won't be another 0-6.
Chelsea is always the biggest game of the season for me - I like to consider them more our rivals rather than Spurs who I just always assume we will beat or at least not lose to.![]()
i grew up and went to school in Slough, an area split between The Arsenal, chavs and QPR - so i have the reverse, i just can't hate them that much - i hate individuals there and their noveau fans, and i hate losing every year to them but that i put down to wonga. I continue to respect Mourinho as a manager even though hes a dick.
traditionally, the Arsenal and Chelsea support used to mix a lot, we'd go to their games and them to ours - mainly cos they were never rivals, in Paris in 1995 i had chelsea mates come with, and to Cardiff in 2001, plus one of my locals was run by Peter Osgood and Ian Hutchinson.
tbf to my mates, after last years loss they didn't gloat cos they know how fucked off we are with wonga, the texts i got were more "oh dear...", "sorry mate" & " that must sting a bit"....
i'll never hate them as much as the spuds, united, leeds, and liverpool fans.

I wonder which inventive tactics Wenger will use for this match. Maybe Ozil and Podolski as the holding midfielders.

Chippy - I did wonder when i saw your location
eton rifles.
we were Herschel & Churchmead lads, some Holy Joes n lads from Reading & Surrey.
nearly all our older brothers & cousins etc were booted bovver boys at Arsenal or Chelsea, so we'd all go together to Arsenal and when we were away i'd go to QPR & chelsea with them.
yes, chelsea were always a nasty firm with their share of utter psychos, but they always looked after their own fans and most of them liked the way Arsenal played and they were always more focused on the spuds, west ham and leeds.
Brentford was more of a family thing, still is - family is from Southall. i'm made up that they are promoted and bring in 10,000 nearly every game. they'll always be my second love.

Dito - & unless AW puts the boots on & we lose I won't blame him. You never know we may play well & just get beaten by a better team on the day !!. It does happen. Love to see us get something from this one. I'm hoping 1 - 1.LeftfootlegendGooner wrote:A lot of you *word censored* need to man up ffs, "we're going to get stuffed, bumholed"![]()
It's a fuckin game of football and they do have one of the most expensive squads in world football, if we lose then we lose and I for one will be pissed off but will get over it.....

I'm too hoping for win like any of us, regardless what we expect. I don't blame Wenger one bit if we fall our boots on, fighting and giving everything. It's not a shame to lose to a better side if you give everything you have.Ray C wrote:Dito - & unless AW puts the boots on & we lose I won't blame him. However, it is the matter of how we lose or win. This makes a huge difference. You know, getting bumholed describes quite well all of those beatings we've got last year and from Dortmund this season.

Oh, and as for the game tomorrow. Somehow I feel a bit optimistic about this, but then again, I feel the same way before every match...
Probably Mourinho will play defensively, they are probably just waiting us to lose to ball and then counter attack very quickly using our DM weaknesses and flanks if our wing backs get caught too high up. Usual stuff really.

I'm sorry to say that I can't see us gettinv anything from this game. At some stage Wenger will best Maureen but it won't be tomorrow. We'll probably huff and puff, miss a couple and then they'll score two quick goals and leave us flat. I have no doubt that Fabregas will score.

Anybody using South West trains tomorrow there are loads of engineering works. Check your train is running. Oh and we are going to lose.

Wengerites must be looking forward to this one immensely as both sets of fans get to sing "Arsene Wenger, we want you to stay"

Did that really happen?Herd wrote:The way we play is fundamentally flawed and always has been however in the past we had players that had enough nous to use an adapted form of it .
Under Vierras Captaincy we didn't always play the4 way Wenger wanted which led to many rows between the two!
Since then we haven't had a proper captain and he's played this way .
Despite working 30 years in Football Wenger refuses to concede his way isn't right and unfortunately the players seem to buy into it !
Chelsea and MUFC have dominated us because they soak up the pressure and hit us on a sucker punch every time !
